    yes there are 2 cracks in the bumper. the one near fog lamp is a complete crack extending below.
    i thought it'll be expensive, but it's fixed now. just one day's job. i enquired about new bumper, they said it'll cost below 5000/-.
    but i got it fixed by stitching the cracked bumper and now it looks lika a new one and just 1300/- rupees.(done from a local workshop which i know for years)
    the inside of fog lamps was also stitched and is as fresh as new. no one beleived it was the old one.
    will post the pix soon.

    it broke because:
    i'll say that it was because lack of sensor in front.
    if xylo could speak it would say: "boss was careless while parking me. Angry "
    It actually happened while i was trying to park in front of a house i didn't notice the steps in front of the sitout- it was a congested area. i noticed it when the tyres hit the steps after flexing the bumpers. Frustration

    Fihast, Sad to see your Xylo's damaged bumper but its nice that you have got it repaired now and its back to normal and yes, Parking sensors are must in such kind of huge vehicles.

    Nice job done at the garage. I could see no signs of re-work.

    Sometimes it happens, i had a same thing in our Logan after 2 days of delivery. i was reversing checking a lamp post, but i didn't notice a big square shaped stone kept down there. But luckily i sensed it and stopped soon as soon as it hit the bumper, so the damage was minimal.

    yes, i'm planning to install sensors in front too. but one problem is it will beep every now and then when a car is in front espescially in traffic jams.
    reverse sensor is activated only when the reverse gear is engaged.

    By the way only few more kms to first service. i've booked it for tomorrow.
    Any suggestions friends?

    Hey, the job done on your bumper is a really good one. Impressive I must say. Well as far as your first service goes, there is not much to do as the car is pretty new and hasn't clocked much milage. So just the routine changes in air/oil filters, engine oil change, etc would be enough for now.

    I understand that its difficult to judge Xylo's front, but installing front sensors will actually become an irritant in traffic as you said. So I would advise against it.

    dont ever go for sensors on the front umper, i got them installed in our indigo and the very next day we got them removed, waste of money..it keeps irritating you all the time, you need to maintain more distance in traffic else it will show you hell, im telling this out of personal experience never get them on your ride, get them on the back bumper, its very useful

    @ napster: it should be connected to a switch & should be switched on only while parking.

    Exactly.
    That's the really fun of it.
    Like in smokin's car.
    He has connected his Rear view camera to the parking lights.
    Acts as per his choice.

    A crash guard might help in avoiding such damages, but i don't see any good one for Xylo.

    I would never prefer a crash guard.
    They are only good for the low speed collisions but can damage the car very much on high speed crashes because the crash guards are directly connected to body which causes more damage than in the plain bumper because behind the bumpers there are collision bars(I can't recall the exact term)which prevent less damage.

    @ fihast: similar to my scorpio. the second service should be cheaper, something like Rs. 400.

    @napster: Yes, u're right i had the same brand in my estilo. but that wouldn't do the job in a xylo. so bought a new one with double the size and effect.
    @raj & thackervijay: This brand is quite famous here in kerala. and i got it fitted from the main dealer, they give me 1 year warranty, and it is very nearest to me. overall it gives good perfomance. why should i spent more on jbl, polk etc when i can get more for less and when i have good accesibilty to the dealer. They had replaced smaller bass tube for me free of cost after 1 and half years under warranty(it had some problem because of not using for 6 months)
    Brand: Auto Elettronica
    one in xylo: PMPO= 2000w
    RMS = 200w
    cost= 4500/-
    one in estilo: PMPO=1000w
    RMS=100w
    cost=3000/-

    About the brand:
    Auto elettronica claims that they run the first automobile electronics college in india. It is a sister concern of the Britco and britco group which is one of the established firm in mobile phone servicing and education. They manufacture wide variety of automobile electronic items, such as sub woofers, speakers, bass tube, sensors, camera's, security systems, LCD's etc.

    will take a snap of both the bass tube together later.

    @ napster: all basstubes & subwoofers need an amp to run. its can be inbuilt too.

    @ fihast: which amp is your basstube running on?
