I think the absence of Mr. Jagdish Khattar is the reason for all this. As long was he was there, service costs very very low compared to competition and peaceful ownership was assured.

Re: Red Hot Alto Spice
Don't know about Jagdish. But what I can say is that the cars are very badly built. There was a case when a customer bought 10 Baleno's and 6 had their engine seized within a few days. The engines had the bearings missing. Which brings me back to my old saying.
"Why does Maruti have a service station just about everywhere?"
"Because you'll probably need a service station just about anywhere."
Some cars are reliable enough to go anywhere. Some like Maruti overcome the problem by having a service station to take care of an unreliable car.

In my experience, i never faced a reliability issue with a Maruti. But for your problem, the response from them is very poor. I think you need to take the matter to next level, if you don't witness an improvement in mileage.

Even the top levels have gone stray. My personal experience with the Swift Airbags problem. I think Peter would have been better off putting down some more money and going for the Spark, which has 3 years maintenance scheme and is way better than Alto in every field. Plus, it never faced milage issues unlike Maruti. There are a lot of Maruti WagonRs, Zens, and also an Alto in our flat. The Alto, one Zen and two WagonRs have faced problems similar to Peter.

Otherwise I would have sold the car and gone for a Spark or i10 Irde.

Well, the deed is done. You can sell it off after 2 years and go for a way better car with nearly the same money. My cousin bought a Spark, which I drove for a considerable distance. It gave me a milage of around 12 with AC on in full blast and my rough and rash driving style. Its very nice with much more space, power, good ride, handling, etc. Spark also gets beige interiors as standard in all variants.

spark, i10 both are good hatchbacks in their price range.
