Maruti Suzuki Alto 2007,15000km Report

Hey guys, I m back with my Maruti Suzuki Alto’s 15000km report.
This car was bought for ruff n tuff use and mainly for driving lessons for my mom n sister. Bought on 16 May 2007, the car has never posed any serious trouble. Touch wood!!



So here is the 2yr report:

Fuel efficiency -Unlike my previous car Tata Indigo, she is doesn’t get thirsty very soon.Delivers a fuel efficiency of 17kmpl in city.The maximum average I got out of it was 23kmpl on highway. I really love this figure coz this efficiency of 23kmpl was delivered when I cruised my strech of abt 900km at 90-100kmph…


Ride and Handling – At low speeds there is no issue.But as soon as the car crosses 100kmph it seems to be leaving the ground.I know this 796cc is not meant for such speeds but still maruti shud work on car handling. New driver should NEVER try to push this car hard. In addition to this, prominent body roll adds to fear of crashes round the corners. Braking is ok but can be improved.[/b]


Performance – You cant expect much from 796cc. But the moderate performance is compensated by the awesome fuel efficiency.



Interiors – Interiors are the biggest disappointment. I m still searching for something that can really make my interiors a bit pleasant. I have heard abt some dash painting jobs n m seaching for the same in my city(Nagpur),but not successful yet. Again, after discontinuation of the 1.1l engine option, Maruti has cut short many things that were earlier in the option lists in order to reduce the car prices. For eg the previous model had RPM meter on board which is now not even on the option list.Internaly adjustable ORVMs also not supplied even with the Lxi version.So to conclude, Maruti gives its customers an opportunity to own a not so sporty car at a minimal price of abt 2.5lacs. But at that price one shouldn’t expect much.

Problems Till date – No problem problems encountered as yet except the dents gifted by my mom.

Within a month I'm going to get the following for my cutie…

Spoiler(probably wing type if I get one), Chrome strip on front grill, Remote release for boot, Fog lamps.
Overall experience quite good. A great city car for rookie driver. Also with some good mods you can turn it into a damsel..

Interiors.No mods.In its stock state..

Good review akash. Like you city, Alto is well maintained too(save for the damage on right side).

I agree your interior is not good. Have a try with interiors of X-fun version of Alto.

Thanx buddy.as i have written the rite side dented when the car jumped down the road while i was giving driving lessons to my mom.
N how r Xfun interiors different fro regular alto.can u plz post some pics of it?

nice little ride maintained pretty well just like your city,
the 1.1ltr alto was a good one at the time it was lanched but unfortunately they discontinued it, and i like your fuel economy, 23kmpl, thats just awesome, was it on ac or wihtout ac ??

thanx a ton buddy..its hard to believe but the 23kmpl fe was delivered with ac...

:affraid: on ac and 23kmpl?? that is amazing, i know alto gives good mileage but 23 kmpl on ac is just super good,

thanx buddy...buddy can you suggest something for tyres.sometimes my dad takes her to his plant (steel plant with lots of coal) n if not cleaned soon,the tyre get really dirty.Can u suggest somekind of tyre cleaning to make the tyres like new one??

i use regular car shampoo for washing my car including my tyres, i just use a sponge to do the job and after cleaning it with shampoo, i apply tyre shiners to regain its original shine

How much does this tyre shiner cost??can u name the exact product n its price???

i use a formula 1 tyre shiner and that is for 220rs

I m going to get aftermarket ones. MGA spoiler costs around 8.5k n thats too much for that boring spoiler, when i can easily get same kind for merely 1.6k. :D N in above all, i want wing type spoiler which isnt available with maruti for Alto.

IMO wing type spoilers dont go well with the hatchbacks, i've seen an alto with a glass spoiler on top of the roof and it was a wing type one, and trust me, people were laughing at him, whats the use of a spoiler installed on top of it, ?? he must have atleast mounted it in an inclined position :lol:

dude do you have alloys on your alto?

no buddy. and surely i am not going to get them because i am not going to keep this car for very long.

I wouldn't suggest to get a spoiler, Its just for show and waste of money, Get some other useful accessory instead.

Hey Akash, i don't think a spoiler will gel well with your Alto, but you can, nonetheless, give it a try. How about hoing for a good ICE kit?
