According ti my research, the Grand Vitara is available in Australia with a 1.9lt DDiS engine producing around 130 BHP of power and 300NM of torque. It is said to be immensely torquey, with peak torque kicking in at about 1750RPM and power isn't that bad too with good fuel economy and low emissions. It is said to go from a 0 to 100 in around 13 seconds, not that impressive though.

well two things, first 1.9L engine only with 130bhp, isnt that exiciting and second the 0-100 range also isnt that impressive with that power band, seens it isnt tuned as per it should be, whats the source of that information DC, can you share that.

yep, that's pretty much where I got my information from too.
@raj - I agree lol, but , please don't be fooled about the scorpio - it's a wonderful vehicle, built by our own Mahindra, it is a phenomenal success and with a tie up with Jeep it'll take off like never before.

well, the second guess is right... Lol! nothing like that though. i am 6'1" tall & quite "healthy" too, so no sedans fit me! so i bought a scorpio non-CRDe in 2003, then again when the search for a new SUV began in 2005, no other vehicle in the market seemed as the good as the scorpio CRDe. the same story repeats itself in 2008 & we end up with a scorpio mHawk. the reason we have not sold the older ones is because they are running fine without any issues. so no point in selling them.

Features list are impressive, but i feel price is on the higher side. Let's see how they are going to market it and achieve success.

feature list? what features?
these features -
are available in a car costing even 5-8 lakhs!
the only feature left out is all time 4WD which i think is pointless. most of the GV owners in india would not be taking it off road. also, it will penalise FE on a already thirsty petrol engine.

useless upgrade i should say, as raj said these options are available in most of the cars these days, it should have some advanced techo features, something which makes people say "COOL" some in built lcd which helps the people in it navigate between media, drive diagonistics, etc etc..something like that
