As posted earlier Maruti will launch the Grand Vitara with a more powerful engine in the first week of July this year. The more powerful Grand Vitara will get a 2.4L VTT petrol powerplant with 160bhp on tap and will help the SUV comply with Bharat IV norms. Maruti has updated the Grand Vitara site, which says “New Grand Vitara 2.4 litre Coming Soon In First week of July”.

Thats great news. Now hopefully, it can rival Honda CR-V in terms of performance and economy. I also hope that it will get a lot more features, which are necessary for the class.

this is a good news for GV lovers, it always needed more power it has now and with this new 2.4VVT coming on, also to expect new features added too which would give some heat to CR-V then.

Its good that Maruti Suzuki India Limited has finally considered to launch its not- so successful SUV with bigger and better engine, Now we can hope some increase in its sales, All Maruti needs to give it now is to change those dark dull interiors and a fresh new look on outside.

Yes, I can hardly wait. Powerful engine, good interiors, nice features, the works. I would surely book one if it is good and if I have the money.

Good interiors?
I find them very plain.
Features, it hardly has any.

What I meant to say was that good interiors and features will be added along with the new engine.

this is anticipated from quite long time by many car enthusiastics across nation that MSL would one day feel of getting better interiors along with good list of equipments and a powerful engine, lets hope so that anticipation is acknowledged!

In my opinion, good quality interiors, features should not be expected out of Suzuki.
They do what they do best, cheap and low maintenance cars.

Yeah never expect anything extraordinary from Maruti, other than price, FE, power and driving pleasure. Power and driving pleasure suits only to some cars now, as some cars are not that good.

I don't agree that MSIL's offers low quality parts, What I feel is that they are cheap and best, Like of SX4's interiors

Even if Suzuki gives more features to the Vitara, without giving better quality, I would still buy it because the 2.4lt engine will be awesome on power and the car gives good driving pleasure as well, plus its 4WD.

I guess, Grand Vitara deserves a Diesel powerplant more than powerful petrol engine.

I second that Abhi.
Most guys opting for SUVs prefer Diesel due to the lower running costs attached with them.

Running costs apart, SUVs must hav Diesel engine for the torgue that an Oil Burner delivers.

That's a nice point. Petrols can never match diesel's torque, and big vehicle needs a diesel badly. But i guess MSIL won't be having an bigger diesel engine.

hmm..wonder why though - a 2.5L petrol would be a fuel guzzler.
What's more surprising is that Suzuki's diesel engines are really good and they have sucessfully tried out on the Vitara, but why not yet in India? Can you imagine a powerful and quiet diesel turbo to an SUV like the Vitara - it would swallow the Ford Endeavour, Scorpio and any other SUV hollow!
