Great review.. Very well organised compared to mine.. Lols..
Was surprised to know that Logan Rattles.. I was under impression that Logan is very well built.. And also that Logan bottoms on speed breakers..Strange for a car built for developing countries..
Regarding Servicing charges, I guess, different Mahindra dealers charge differently for servicing.. I used to Service Scorpio with Asset Auto and used to pay upto 10000 per service Then i tried G3 at panvel and was surprised as it was just about 3000..
Got a heartache seeing ur Esteem.. We had a May 1996 Esteem Vx which we used till Aug 2005 clocking unbelievable 6.2 lakh kms.. Used it soo long bcoz it was our bad period financially.. Tried to sell it and got an offer for 30k.. Finally gave it for free to one of our relative.. Hav seen all type of days with Esteem.. It was converted to LPG and it was used spending least cost on running and maintainence..

    Thanks abhi :) .
Regarding dealers, we have only one dealer. There is no other dealer in the nearby cities.
6.2lakh kms? :affraid: Thats a very high mileage. Was the engine opened in this period?

Crazy Cat while at the Mahindra showroom, I was asking them details about the Logan some of which were parked there. The car has impressed me as its so practical a car, but under rated.
The salesman was telling me that gear oil changes are almost negligible during the lifetime of the car. Is it truly so?

That's right anjan, the Logan is the best practical car out there. Big on space, big on mileage, comfortable ride, good stability ,etc..

I'm not sure about the gear oil changes. I have no idea about it, as i have limited technical knowledge.

Sorry to hear about the esteem.
    Even i had the esteem.
    It was an amazing car.
The logan is a very good car.
    Though at 710k its expensive.
I'd rather buy a Fiesta Base model at that price.
    But still its amazing.
Can we have some pics of the rear seat too.

    Excellent Review.
    Heard its very comfortable.

It had clocked around 96k. It is now restored fully and is with us. Need to do something on NVH levels(though not bad), other than it everything's fine.

    A small update:

    Crazy cat wrote:
    Engine and Performance:
Logan's engine is strong. After around 10000kms, its engine loses is refinement.

Earlier i complained about the engine refinement. But now i'd take back those words. It is because of the driving manners of the driver. He has a hard foot and used to rev harder than necessary. But i never thought that was the reason for the engine noise before. Now he has left the job and its been month. My dad and me drive it now, the engine became much smoother. Nowadays i'm not hearing any engine noise while driving.

And also added info is FE has improved a lot. I'm getting no less than 20kpl on any kind of highways. Once in a trip in less traffic road, with 4 on board, it gave an average of 25.2 kms for a stretch of 180kms. On our regular roads, Logan returns more mileage than Swift. With AC on all the time.

@akash, will post a pic soon.

Yeah vijay, but this is the where the problem lies. My dad's love on Logan is increasing. Now he is more attracted to leather seats, etc.. that are offered in new logan. He wants to get a Logan again, but my love Linea is ever increasing too. Our every talk on cars is based on this only. Let's see who wins. :winkthumb:

I wish that could happen. Logan has some advantages that attracts my dad and Linea has some that attracts me.
Ride, Space, Comfort, FE, these are the major criteria for my Dad. In this other than space and FE, Linea is good. But for me, handling, stability, power, looks,etc.. the list is big.

@Raj, yeah it is expensive but i feel it is worth for the money spent.

    @bharat, thanks.

Another problem now  . One day headlamp failed to turn off, the light was ON and other than that nothing worked. The stalk felt like dead. Yesterday, Logan went for 70000km service, they asked us to replace entire unit and it costed Rs. 4200(before taxes). The bill was above Rs. 15000(will update the exact value by tomorrow).

Every part's price is very high, even higher than price mentioned on official website. Our love for Logan has started to fade with the bad service experience of Logan. After all the high amount, the job done is not satisfactory. The headlight is very poor, wiper doesn't clean properly, rattles like hell,etc.. :frustration:

I'd like to make clear to all those who seeks to buy Logan, better stay off it. You can get an expensive car with less mileage and better features and looks, because Logan's service cost will equalize that. You can buy a Fiesta, which now comes with maintenance warranty like Chevy and it costs around rs. 9000 for the basic plan (2 years/ 40000kms)

    That is sad CC.
Didn't knew that Mahindra-Renault provides such poor service.
Is your car still under warranty?
