Nano Gains Over Maruti Models in Fuel Efficiency
Maruti Suzuki models have been the most fuel efficient cars in India since several decades. However, the recent testimonials from the Automobile Research Association of India reveal Tata Nano to be a more fuel efficient car. ARAI testified that Nano consumes much less fuel than the most economical models of other auto makers.
ARAI in Pune testified that Nano is the most fuel efficient car in India amongst all commercially launched 450 small car models in India. It gives nearly 23.6 kmpl of fuel efficiency under standard conditions.
Maruti Suzuki currently owns nearly 55 percent of the total market share in India and accounts for nearly two-third of the small car sales in India. Its model A-star is known to have clocked fuel efficiency of 19.3 kmpl. Its highest selling model Alto also delivers mileage equal to Hyundai i10 that delivers a fuel efficiency of 18.1 kmpl.

Re: Tata Nano now launched!
Yes, I too read this, Check this link also - Tata Nano returns mileage of 23.4 KPL Says ARAI!
http://indianautosblog.com/2009/04/tata-nano-delivers-a-mileage-of-234-kmpl-says-arai
But still, I'm sure that this car won't return the same mileage in cities with heavy traffic, On the basis of tests which they are saying are performed in totally different conditions, which is surely not applicable to real life condition.

Very True, Even they claim that Maruti 800 returns about 15kpl in city buit i know that my maruti 800 returns just around 12kpl in city, there are many factors which affect on mileage of a car which includes driving style too.

Re: Tata Nano now launched!
This figure is just a result of standard test condition in a test track and not real world conditions. Nano should deliver around 18kpl in city, just my guessing.

Re: Tata Nano now launched!
Personally i feel that 18Kpl figure should be of Highway, In city it won't go above max to max of 16kpl.

Re: Tata Nano now launched!
yes it should be giving 16 to 18kmpl overall.
about the test drive. i read somewhere that soon test drives will be also available. till then people can fill in the registration forms which costs Rs.300. deliver will take some time now as first its going to be a lottery system and second tata is not yet ready to produce 1lacs units(which is the target for tata in the first phase of production) in the first year itself.

Tata Motors sells over 51,000 Nano booking forms in three days!
NEW DELHI: Tata Motors has received an overwhelming response to its Rs one-lakh wonder, Nano, selling over 51,000 booking forms in the last three days.
According to sources close to the company, it sold 51,000 booking forms from its 218 dealerships since it started selling on April 4.
When contacted, a Tata Motors spokesperson said, "The response is progressing increasingly everyday." He, however, declined to give any more specific details.
The sources, however, said the forms were sold only at Tata Motors dealerships and not at other outlets such as that of Croma, Westside and Titan World.
The company had launched Nano on March 23 and booking will start from April 9 till April 25.
In the National Capital, it will have a price range of Rs 1.23 lakh to Rs 1.72 lakh (ex-showroom) for the three variants.
Only one lakh customers will be chosen through a lot for the first year.
Tata Motors is currently producing Nano at its Uttarakhand plant, which has got an annual capacity of 50,000 units.

Re: Tata Nano now launched!
Tata Nano's bookings have already started from yesterday and people are rushing for it!Anyone here who is planning to book nano?
TATA NANO BOOKINGS STARTED
Starting today, buyers can book the world’s cheapest car, the Tata Nano. Tata Motors has entered into agreements with 18 preferred banks/ NBFCs for financing and with five partner insurance companies to offer comprehensive insurance, under the ‘Tata Motors Insurance’ banner. Customers willing to book the Nano can either pay the entire booking amount - which is Rs. 95,000 (for the Tata Nano Std), Rs. 1,20,000 (Tata Nano CX), and Rs. 1,40,000 (Tata Nano LX) - using their own funds or seek financing.
Tata Motors on Wednesday said that it has entered into agreements with National Insurance, ICICI Lombard General Insurance, Royal Sundaram Alliance General Insurance, United India Insurance and HDFC Ergo General Insurance. The insurance premium would start at Rs 3,468 (ex New Delhi).
Tata Motors will announce the allotment of 1 lakh units of the Nano through a random selection process in the first phase by June-end (60 days after the last day of the booking which is April 25). Applicants have an option of retaining their booking deposit if they do not get allotment in the first phase. Customers retaining their booking deposit will be eligible for interest on their deposit, effective from the date of announcement of allotment of the second phase, at 8.5% for a retention period of 1-2 years and 8.75% for a retention period of more than 2 years.

Re: Tata Nano now launched!
Here everyday i could see 20-30 people in Tata showroom around Nano. I'm waiting for the crowd to come down to have a look at it. But when there is no TD available, what is the use of visiting the showroom?
