    Cool Tata Nano now launched!

    Post  thackervijay 5th February 2009, 11:33 am

You can pay Rs 70,000, book a Nano by Feb-end

Bookings for the Rs 1 lakh Nano will begin by February end. The booking amount for the world’s cheapest car will be around Rs 70,000.
But, even after paying 70% of the car’s total cost, the wait could be quite long.

Sources familiar with development said that all dealers of Tata Motors and branches of the State Bank of India (SBI) will accept bookings simultaneously across the country in the next three weeks. SBI will initially engaged 100 branches and take the number eventually to 1,000.

Tata Motors and SBI have entered into an exclusive arrangement for the Nano car. SBI will not only act as sole lender to buyers but also offer its branches for bookings.

As Tata Motors is eyeing initial bookings of over one lakh cars, the company hopes to collect around Rs 700 crore in just a few weeks. Allotment will be made through a draw and, going by projections even during this recession, those at the top of the draw would have the choice of becoming proud owners of the first Nanos, or getting a premium in the black market.

Nano would be launched in March 2009 with cars rolling out from the Pantnagar plant in Uttranchal. This plant can produce only 3,000 cars per month — just a fraction of the demand.

Things will ease only after the cars roll out of Sanand plant near Ahmedabad which will have an initial capacity of producing 2,50,000 cars per annum. But the Gujarat plant will take at least one year to start production.

Nano’s launch had been scheduled for 2008 but plans got derailed when Tatas were forced out of Singur in West Bengal.

So Nanoisation of the nation will begin bringing a
sea change on our roads and our middle class' outlook on motorised
things, that move on the roads.
-The driver's seat will be charged as there's a battery below it.
-There's a stepney under the bonnet and not an engine.
-And fitting high wattage Blaupunkt and JBL music systems may stall the powerless engine.
-A Maruti 800 will be considered a larger car from March 2009 onwards.
-Maybe the Nanos will cling on to the radiators of Endeavours, Scorpios and Safaris, where flies and flying insects used to be stuck once upon a time!

Is it confirmed that those alloys will come with top end Nano?
I don't think so, because sometimes carmakers put some attractive accessories on cars while launching them but when they come in market, People don't get to see them, even as an option!:)

MARUTI ALTO TO TAKE TATA NANO!
Maruti Suzuki could slash the price of its largest selling model, Alto, as it looks to take on the Nano, the world’s cheapest car being rolled out by rival Tata Motors with a price tag of Rs 1 lakh later this month. The Alto, whose entry model costs Rs 2.3 lakh, might not be priced as low as the Nano, but will see“a significant price reduction. The decision to pit its best-selling model against the Nano is a major strategy shift for Maruti. The market leader was expected to cut prices of the M800 to counter the Nano. But Maruti has decided that it’s too expensive to upgrade the M800 to meet the Euro 4 emission norms.
However, any cut in Alto prices will not be immediate and Maruti will wait to launch a full frontal battle only after Nano volumes gain critical mass. This can happen only in 2010, when the Nano mother plant at Sanand in Gujarat goes on stream. Until then, Tata Motors is likely to produce only 3,000-5,000 units of the Nano every month from its plant at Pantnagar in Uttarakhand.
A Maruti spokesman did not confirm or deny the plan, only saying, “We don’t comment on our product plans.”
In 2010, 11 cities in India will embrace Euro 4, and the M800 will be phased out from these markets. As the rest of the country moves to the new emission standard, the M800 will slowly be phased out countrywide. The M800’s Euro 4 non-compliance is the reason why Maruti has to pit its best-selling model against the Nano, slated to be launched on 23rd March.
India’s largest-selling model, the Alto standard, is priced at Rs 2.3 lakh. It has an 800cc engine, no AC and no power steering. The Nano standard version has a 624cc engine, but is expected to be priced Rs 1.2 lakh lower. Maruti sells around 2 lakh units of the Alto a year on an average. Alto sales recently crossed 1 million units.
Maruti’s price aggression in the face of competition isn’t new. When the Tata Indica was rolled out 10 years ago, Maruti reacted by cutting the price of its then best-seller, the M800, by Rs 25,000 to take on the Rs 2.95-lakh Tata car. Post-rebate, the M800 was priced around Rs 1.8 lakh, substantially cheaper than the Indica.

though maruti says alto would compete with nano, how would they justify with the price bracket of one lac of nano, cutting arcel tray's,more cheaper plastics, no armrest on doors, then no doors and no glasses for it , i dont think maruti is gonna compete with tata for nano, as alto is way pricier then nano even for its base model without powersteering and a/c.

    Tata Nano now launched! Tata_n11

Uttering the word "Europa" should spark memories of the funky and fragile Lotus of the '60s and '70s, or perhaps the British sportscar company's more recent revival. What one normally doesn't tend to think of is the Tata Nano.

That may change, however, as the discount Indian auto is slated to come to The Continent wearing the Nano Europa badge, and it will arrive with more standard equipment and a higher base price than the target $2,500 USD it will sell for in India. Judging from the production-ready models debuting at the Geneva Motor Show this week, it will also be the best-looking Nano in the family.

While the naming usage may have Colin Chapman rolling in his minimalist coffin, the Nano Europa still shares a few similarities, including a low curb weight, small wheels at the corners, small engines with unusual placements, and so on.

The Europa differs significantly from the standard Nano with a longer 2.28-meter wheelbase (90 inches, or about 7.5 inches longer), a different drivetrain and added standard equipment. In fact, the Europa offers a raft of high-end new-to-Nano features like four-lug 14-inch alloy wheels, electric power steering, LED lighting (unlikely to see production) and even a standard passenger-side mirror. Did we mention it even has an all-aluminum three-cylinder engine and a five-speed transmission for less-dangerous highway cruising?

All joking aside, the Europa also figures to get more safety features, including stability control and anti-lock brakes, and Tata says the car will adhere to all necessary safety regulations before it goes on sale.

While pricing has not been announced, there is talk of hitting the 5,000 Euro bogey (around $6350 USD) when the car launches for 2011, and if the company can hit that target price, we suspect there will be far more Tata Europas extant than Lotus Europas in just a few months' worth of production. High-res gallery of both yellow and silver Europas below, official press release after the jump.

    BOOKINGS FOR NANO MAYBE EXPENSIVE!

    Tata Nano now launched! Tatananonew22.jpg-news-400

The most eagerly awaited People’s car may come in expensive for the common man. Banks may plan to charge differential interest rates for Nano than those available for normal car loans. The world’s cheapest car Nano is expected to launch on March 23. The booking finance for this car may be higher than normal car loans.

“This is because during the pre-delivery period, the bank does not have any security and thus, it is like a clean loan. However, post-delivery, the car would be mortgaged to the bank and thus the rates will come down,” said a senior Bank of India official. Bank of India is the latest banker which has tied up with Tata Motors to offer financing for the car.

The normal car loan rates from Bank of India are 10-11 percent which are applicable once the automobile is hypothecated to the bank. However, in case of Nano the bank will charge interest rate of 12 – 12.5 percent as there is no security against the loan. Bank of India has already decided on its finance rates. Interest rates offered by private banks are around 11.75 to 13 percent for new cars.
