It is good old 800 for me. Tata doesn't have good reputation on reliability and quality. tata's ordinary cars itself have many niggling problems. I fear how this built to a price Nano will pass the reliability issues, that too this is Tata's first rear-engined car.

Exactly crazy cat!I have same thought in my mind, When it comes on relaibility i can't trust Tata, also when the competition is with Maruti Suzuki. 👍

but i was impressed with one thing on tata's Nano, its panel gaps as compared to all its other cars, Nano has best worked panel gaps.

The 800 is the one for me.
Though the Nano is the cheaper one but i dont think it is as good / peppy and peace of mind as the 800.
With the spare wheel only for the front, people would be scared if their rear wheel got punctured.
And Spare wheel in the front.
And open the bonnet to fill the fuel.
And engine under the boot where the spare wheel is in most cars.
I agree cost effective but these wont be good for the people wanting a car with a peace of mind.

You are absolutely right abhinav! In terms of desigining etc nano looks good when compared to 800, no doubt, but when we see about its practicality it not as good as Maruti 800 and we also don't know how will be its built quality.

Vibs, We all concluded that 800 is reliable only after many years of ownership & experience..

How can we say Nano is unreliable without even having a TD??

I cannot say its unreliable, It will be surely a reliable car for the cost you are spending!!

Thats right zinam, but I said 800 to be more trust worthy because of Maruti brand and about Nano, I said unrelaible because of previous ownership records of TATA, I know some people who have sold their Tata vehicle after 4-5 yrs because of one or another problem. :|

In addition to what vibhor said, Tata's previous cars weren't restricted to a price. They are just a normal car. They probably spent more on them, than the Nano and also the cost of them is not low like Nano. If those cars were unreliable in the long run with niggling problems, then How can we expect Nano to be reliable, which is built by fixing the price at first. And also with costs increasing and other problems, Tata faced a hard time launching Nano. The probability of unreliable like regular Tata cars are more.

As far as first impression goes, nano seems to be sensible product. The best till date by Tata Motors, Reliability issues may crop in only later.. And that warranty of 24000kms is very poor, Still as a City car, I'll go for Nano it looks stylish and has better space utilisation but that will be strictly for city use. For overall use, 800 still rules.. Hav been to Agra from Mumbai in 800 way back in 1989 when 800 was launched in 1985, he had one car among the first batch of 800s had 3 800s till date and it is damn reliable.

Mod's Note : Please Avoid excess use of dots.....like.....this.

Yes, Also Maruti 800 looks more like a proper car, Nano looks like van to me and am worried about its crash safety.

yes. safety issues are also to be noted. for now 800 is the obvious winner. nano is just a hyped up product at this point. lets see how it fairs the test of time. time will show the true colours of nano.
