Hey cc, i20 is a very heavy car, and so it is difficult for the 1.2lt engine to effectively pull the car, despite its decent power output, which again comes out at a very high engine speed.

Re: Now Hyundai i20 Diesel!
@napster, both have the same engine but i20 is heavy like dcargod said. So the engine struggles to perform.

Re: Now Hyundai i20 Diesel!
there;s no sure news or related source confirming this icar, they might take couple of months for sure to launch diesel i20, cause to believe is the news that it wont come with same 1.5 crdi engine but a new 1.4 crdi engine for i20.

Re: Now Hyundai i20 Diesel!
Pricing is good, but Hyundai being Hyundai, it has again started reducing features on the diesel version, and this time, the all important ABS. The engine looks to be good and the Launch is way sooner than expected. Looks like Hyundai is feeling the heat from Grande Punto and Fabia diesel.

Re: Now Hyundai i20 Diesel!
Pricing is really good.
But why to miss ABS? Hope they offer it atleast as an option.
@icar, Please confirm it and let us know.

Re: Now Hyundai i20 Diesel!
icar, yes in petrol versions they do have ABS stickers on its rear, so why to ommit in on diesel, this is something hyundai's always mess up with, why again even on this then.Good news is that diesel i20 is coming and i hope its all new 1.4 crdi with 90bhp engine.

Re: Now Hyundai i20 Diesel!
the topend ABS has ABS as mandatory, why not in diesel? atleast keeping ABS as optional would make a good deal but at a good price

Motorbeam.com Exclusive Hyundai i20 Diesel Review
Hyundai India will launch the i20 diesel on the 7th of
this month. However much before the car is launched we got a chance to
checkout the much awaited oil burner from Hyundai. The car looks
similar to the i20 petrol. Infact you can’t make out if the car is a
petrol or a diesel till you see the CRDi badge at the rear. The version
featured above is the Asta variant. The Hyundai i20 diesel gets 6 airbags and sunroof as optionalal (Asta (O)).
We started the car and the car doesn’t make much noise. Yes, the typical diesel clatter is present, but that is audible only from the outside. Inside the car is very well insulated. We even revved the engine to 5000rpm and the she felt comfortable. The gear system in the i20 diesel is different from what is seen in the i20 petrol. The reverse gear no longer resides near the 5th gear. You have to lift a button and push it next to first gear to get into reverse, similar to what is seen in the Chevrolet Optra.
The 1.4L 16V CRDi unit produces 90PS of power at 4000rpm and a delicious 22.4kgm of torque at just 1750rpm. We expect the car to be a hoot to drive and can’t wait to get behind the wheel. Hyundai has done a fantastic job by not skimping on essential features like ABS and rear wiper washer. Now only if they price it well. We have been hearing 7.5L OTR, Mumbai for the top end Asta (O).

Much earlier than i expected. Now this has made the deal more sweeter. But again the price is high. Hope Hyundai improves on durability.

good to see that abs is available on this, now what remains to see is its price on offer, which i believe shouldnt be very high but around 7L.

check the expected price. I think it would be more similar to this price.

Re: Now Hyundai i20 Diesel!
The pricing is not a surprise because Hyundai also charges a premium for its diesel varients, but this is still better pricing when compared to the Verna diesels.. All that is left is to see how the engine zooms.
