[solved]second hand diesel?

hi guys
my dad's company wants to buy a second hand diesel car. His friends told him to buy the TATA Indigo LX TDi. He asked me about it (since i am the automotive counselor in the house!) and i told him a straight no! was it the right decision?
I suggested him to look at other cars such as Logan diesel or octy diesel
but i know octy diesel will be expensive.
His company has not revealed any budget or anything but it should not be more than 2-3 lacs.
Can you guys suggest if the Indigo is a good choice or any other car?

If the budget has a max limit of 2-3 lacs, then Indigo is the only choice or you could get some other cars that are out of production.

but then they want easy maintenance and good reputation
because it will be driven vigorously around the city!

Petrol options are more. What they need? hatchback or sedan?

a diesel sedan is needed and no petrol because it will run a lot!

Try for a Accent CRDi with low mileage, but it'll also give lot problems after 80k kms. Other options are Ikon and Lancer. At this budget, there aren't many cars available, especially with low maintenance.

Wont it be benefitical for companies to go for new car purchase to get depreciation benefits on tax? I would second Crazycat on indigo, TATA's do have high reputation and if it wasnt for easy maintanence travel operators wont opt for TATA vehicles for their day to day trips. Most of the companies are using TATA vehicles for their daily trips and use a corolla or a ikon for special guest pickups.

Firstly, Archit, Is your dad's company which is looking for a car located in India or in Bangkok?

@Vibhor, i guess in India only, as Indigo is not available in Bangkok

His company is in India so the car has to be in India!

anyways they want to get the car in New Dehli and drive it back to Patna where it will stay.
They have found one Indigo which is 2005 model and has run 60,000 kms. It is in good condition and the seller's final price is 2.25 lacs.

is this a good deal?

This is Indigo sounds quite a nice deal but I cannot comment much before I see its condition.

Personally, I suggest to stay away from used Tatas, Especially Indigo/Indica etc.

Archit, Please let us know the budget of your dad's company for buying a new car.

i say good condition because one of my relatives has gone to personally check the car.
well budget is not much but 2-3 lacs!

a tata indigo is a much better option to go for then for hyundai accent crdi, one its discontinued and two that gen crdi had major problems with their engine, so go with tata indigo, check out with a known mechanic and then finalise, just good looking paint or outside of a car isnot the real thing to see.That price is a good quote, can you get the details of variant,model,?

If the car is in good condition, then its surely a good deal. But watchout, Tata cars are a pain in the long run.

he thinks i told him one horror story about indigos giving trouble!

Check out if a used logan diesel is available.
It would be far more better than a used indigo.
