Lexus to make its entry in India!

As Indian auto market shows signs of recovery, Toyota plans to follow the footsteps of bigger luxury car makers like BMW,Mercedes and Audi. The much expected Lexus brand will foray into the indian market soon. The luxury car market seen a growth of 22% last year. “We are very much looking at introducing Lexus, based on the feedback of our dealers and distributors, but are yet to decide on a final timeframe to launch it in India,” Toyota Kirlosakar Motors, MD Hiroshi Nakagawa said.
Toyota also plans to hike its production as the market back on track. Toyota is now producing around 3500 units a month at its Karanataka plant and plans to ramp it up to 5000 (to its full capacity) by July. “On the basis of the market’s performance last year, we cut our output, but since in the last four months the market is coming back on track, we will increase the production of our vehicles from May,” Toyota Kirlosakar Motors, Deputy Managing Director (Marketing) Sandeep Singh said.

The much hyped Toyota's Lexus would soon be available in India. The Lexus is a dream vehicle for many luxury car aspirants in the country.

A late arrival in the Indian markets, Toyota's Lexus will have to compete with current luxury car market leader BMW and its closest rival Mercedes Benz.

It is to be mentioned here that with a 22 per cent increase in luxury car
sales reported for the domestic market for the financial year that
ended in March, both the German manufacturers have announced expansion
plans in India.

However, Toyota India
managing director Hiroshi Nakagawa has also not specified which of the
Lexus models will be imported. In India, the company is so far mostly
known for its Toyota Qualis and Toyota Innova utility vehicles, which have both proved popular. However, many individually imported Lexus cars are on Indian roads.

At an international level, Lexus
has a large range of products, from the HS 250h - which debuted at the
2009 Detroit Auto Show and will become the first Lexus dedicated hybrid
luxury model - to the Lexus LX470 sport utility vehicle, which became
the LX570 for the 2008 model year, and the luxury saloon Champaign
Lexus LS 460.
