BMW India, the fully owned subsidiary of world’s largest premium car maker BMW, is ready to bring its two-seater Roadster Z4 in India later this year. This new model in BMW product portfolio will have a folding hard top and can run up to 250kmph. It will be priced between Rs. 50-60 lakh and will be available at all BMW dealerships across India.
BMW India will also bring petrol and diesel variants of its newly launched BMW 7-series by June 2009. Both the models are priced at Rs. 81 lakh and Rs. 77 lakh respectively. BMW India intends to expand its dealership network pan India. It will add 10 new dealers to its network and expand its base to capture larger market share.
“We grew 15% in the first quarter of 2009 and surpassed Mercedes Benz in the sales tally,” said BMW India president Peter Kronschnabl. “We are looking at incremental sales from untapped cities. Already, Ludhiana and Coimbatore are giving us sizable sales and we expect similar numbers from other tier-II cities,” he added. BMW India has already replaced Mercedes Benz this year as the top luxury car brand in India. :)
