Audi Q5 now launched!

Audi will launch its latest sports utility vehicle Q5 in India in June 2009. Audi will introduce the Q5 with 3.0 litre TDI (diesel) and 2.0 litre TFSI (petrol) engines for Indian consumers. The Audi Q5 will be imported as completely built units from Audi’s Ingolstadt facility in Germany.

Q5 was launched in Europe in November 2008, with four versions in both petrol and diesel engines. It is priced between 38,000 Euro and 50,000 Euro in Germany.

Q5 is actually a mini Q7, and it looks very nice, i would prefer it anyday and am really impressed with its LEDs on lamps.

Audi is getting increasingly competitive in the Indian market. After the recent launch of the all new A6 at a very competitive 38 lakhs onwards to take the compeition from Mercedes and BMW head on, the company is now getting ready to launch the Q5 in the Indian market.
The new Audi Q5 will take the BMW X3 head on and will also undercut its rival by a few lakh rupees to make the overall deal even sweeter. The Q5 is the baby SUV in the Audi lineup and has basically the same profile as the big brother Q7. Going by how successful the Q7 has been in the Indian market, the Q5 is expected to sell even better and might even draw buyers away from luxury saloons like the Mercedes Benz E Class and the BMW 5 Series.
The new Q5 will be launched on June 4th in the Indian market and is expected to be priced at Rs 37.5 Lakhs for the entry level model going up to Rs 45 Lakhs for the top end with all the optional extras.

Now X3 will get the real competition. Audi was continously testing its car in MH and other parts of country and now finally the wait has come to an end!
I would anyday prefer Q5 over X3 especially in terms of looks. :)

As we told you earlier, Audi has launched its baby SUVQ5 in India.
The Q5 comes in two engine variants - a petrol and diesel each. The
petrol unit is the 2.0 Litre 4 Cylinder DOHC turbocharged intercooled
unit with around 200 bhp of power on tap and a maximum of 350 nm of
maximum torque starting from 1500 rpm all the way upto 4200 rpm. The V6
Turbo diesel displaces 3.0 Litre and generates an impressive 240 bhp
and an even more impressive 510 nm of torque.
The same diesel even under the hood of the bigger Q7 provides
effortless performance and its fair to say that in Q5 which is smaller
and lighter, it will more or less electric!

Both the engines will be mated to a 7-Speed S-Tronic transmission with permanent Quattro all wheel drive.
Audi claims a 0-100 kmph sprint time of 6.5 seconds for the diesel
and 7.2 seconds for the petrol and top speed of 225 kmph and 222 kph
respectively.

As I said before also, The car looks really very nice and good to know that Audi has priced it so competitively, People going for Prado, Montero etc would surely consider this once.

I just loved the Q5 from the moment I saw it. Now I am really happy that it has been launched on Indian soil. The comparo between the Q5 and the X3 will be fun to see. But I believe the Q5 will be better in most respects and the diesel engine is the trump card of the lot. Prices are very competitive too.

The prices are excellent for both the versions.
I would prefer anyday over X3, its old now!

Been to Launch party of Q5 and new A6 yesterday. To be frank, I was quite disappointed with looks of Q5. Although its mini Q7, it simply lacks the appeal. Q5 3.0 TDi priced at 45 lakhs, ex-showroom, I guess its advisable to spend 7 lakhs more and go for Q7 3.0 TDi which retails for 52 lakhs, ex-showroom and makes a statement everywhere one takes it. The street-presence of Q7 is something else. Q5 looks very low and less on space. I loved the standard 17 inch rims with 235/65/R17 tyres though. These are better suited to indian conditions compared to 255/55/R18 of Q7 and they look better too.

Compare it to BMW X3 2.0 Diesel which is priced at 42.5, and then it seems better value considering 3.0 Diesel vis a vis 2.0 diesel of X3 and features offerred by Audi.

I could not click pics in the launch party since it was a high profile one.

That is good abhi.
But I feel the car is worth it.Those who can't stretch their budget for a Q7,Then New Q5 is for them.
BTW, Isn't the new A6 already launched?

3.0 diesel is good. but a price difference of only 7 lacs between Q7 and Q5. i would definitely go for Q7. only if i had the money ;)

Yes Abhi bhaiya I agree with you too. A person spending 45 lakh on a Q5 can easily stretch for 7 lakh more and go for a Q7 which, which makes a better style statement anyday.

i would rather prefer Q7 to Q5, the style statement matters a lot for me along with the muscle it has, both these cars have many similarities, q5 looks like a kid of Q7,

Just check the 17 inch alloys. Beautiful. Looks lot better compared to 18 inch ones which come standard on Q7.

yes all you are saying is true that people would prefer to spend couple of lacs more and buy Q7 instead of Q5, but there would also be people who would buy Q5 to Q7.

Just checked in the Audi Q7 thread, i too feel that Q5's alloys are better than Q7's alloys.

Katrina Kaif is the brand ambassador of the Q5.
