Silverio Bonfiglioli, chief operating officer, Fiat Group disclosed
that Fiat India plans to make India its hub for exports to various
countries, including those in Europe.
As per the plan, Fiat will initiate exports worth 250 million Euros
from India in 2010. This will include cars and other car components.
Fiat already manufactures powertrains at its Indian plant and will
commence to export them to Europe.
“The recently launched Fiat Linea will use upto 90% locally
manufactured parts by the end of 2009. After Fiat’s recent tie-up with
Tata, the company has 70 dealers across 47 different cities in India,
which the company plans to increase it to 100 by the end of this year.
The company plans to roll-out a few more models in the coming years,”
