What about Toyota Fortuner?

Been listening that Toyota is planning to bring Fortuner to India since 2005.. Still there r no signs of it.. Once launched, Fortuner will give sleepless nights to Ford Endeavour which is enjoying kinda monopoly in Off-Roader segment.. All its competitors (price-wise) are soft-roaders..
Fortuner will be Powerful, comfortable, reliable, Good-looking, Good-Quality, refined and all-road SUV thus making a perfect sense..Autocar india says, Fortuner will be launched in Oct 09.. But I am still not sure bcoz we r fooled many times before.. Comeon Toyota, Bring Fortuner soon..

Toyota will launch the much awaited fortuner suv in sep-oct. This will be the Japanese firm’s second SUV in India after the Prado. At the moment it will be only a diesel variant, and will come in a completely knocked down format. The price tag should not exceed Rs 18 lakh,” a Toyota dealer said.It will be available in a 2.5 or 2.7 litre diesel variant and will sport a DOHC turbo diesel engine.The Fortuner will compete with the Honda CRV, Mitsubishi Outlander and Ford Endeavour.

As far as i know, there are many persons who are waiting for the launch of it. But still Toyota keeps them waiting. Hope they atleast launch by this Oct '09.

@abhi, i think there aren't any confirmed news till nw. Only the expected launch is Oct '09. We have been expecting from 2005, but still no Fortuner here. So if we are lucky, we'll get it by this year-end.

You are right abhi, Toyota is saying from long time that it will launch its fortuner, but there are no signs of it yet, Endy is already not doing good in market, So i think fortuner can give captiva a tough competition, Sometime back we showcased an article on Fortuner's launch, The car is expected by this october, you can check full info here -

no doubt that fortuner is going to hit captiva's sales as nothing to beat it as for now in diesel segment, honda cr-v is doing good but has a hefty price rise, fortuner surely is awaited suv for quite some time in our market now, common toyota getit down here.CHEERS!!
Also there would be 2x2/4/x4 options.

May be its ur typing mistake..

I have eyes set on this SUV for years, I drove one in Thailand and My god was it amazing. I own a whole variety of cars but no SUVs and the only reason is that i am waiting for the fortuner.

BTW, y'day Autocar website made April Fool of me.. They mentioned in their website that Forester is available till 31st April for Rs. 10 lakhs.. For further info click here.. I just clicked and got a new window.. "April Fool".. I guess Fortuner is the most eagerly awaited Vehicle above 10 lakhs in India..

Maybe they will bring it here by this May.

Yes Archit maybe its the base model, Over all this is a very mascular looking stylish SUV, Its hood scoop gives it very sporty looks like in pajero, but there should be a spare wheel on rear, it gives even more mascular looks!:winkthumb:

u are right
spare wheel on rear will make it looks more of an off-roader but this SUV isn't all off-roading!
in fact this is more better on-road but it miles ahead of other SUVs off the road!

I too have been waiting for this for long.
Hope it comes soon.
Will be my next buy for sure.

Hey thats great abhinav that you are planning to buy one, Its surely going to give Captiva and outlander a good competition but don't know how will Toyota price it, I've kept my fingers crossed!

I just hope its in the 15-16 lakh range.
It will sell like hot cakes if it comes with a good diesel engine close to 18 lakhs also considering only endeavour and captiva have a diesel engine in the SUV range.

If priced correctly with a diesel engine, its a bound success, With the CR-V getting expensive now costing around 25 On Road, This surely makes things easy for toyota, Infact they can offer both a petrol as well as a diesel.

That is right manan, After the Honda CR-V's price hike its a good time for Toyota Kirloskar to become leader in this segment but still there will be some competition with captiva but as you all said if toyota brings fortuner with diesel as well as petrol and price it nicely, this is going to be a success for sure! :winkthumb:

Great interiors, powerful and frugal diesel engine, beastly looks, comfy interiors, good road manners and a knock-out price tag will ensure Toyota's success. Plus, lets not forget Toyota's bullet proof reliability. I just can't wait for it to come. It was supposed to be here atleast a year back. Well....better late than never..!!
