Should toyota bring back its qualis

with the launch of xylo from mahindra, the segment leader innova from toyota did see fall in their sales as mahindra launched Xylo, new Uv with Crde engine, most enormous space available till now, small features like cup holders,tray's, individual lamps, A/c vents for all passengers on board, maximum leg space available for last third row, never seen such space before, and most improtantly its pricing, 1.80L cheaper to innova, yes that looks,comfort,engine drivability,interiors and plastic quality doesnot match toyota's innova, but our market's key factor is pricing and mahindra did perfect in that, so now time for toyota to come up to beat xylo, shall they bring back its qualis which had done wonders in our market and still you see many qualis running across nations with more then 2L kms and still running strong, is Qualis the answer to Xylo or should toyota bring some other car instead?

Nope, I voted No, because even if Toyota Re-launches its Qualis it won't be able to get success, It has already become popular among Taxi operators and look wise also its not as good as new Xylo, IMO, It will be better if Toyota reduces Innova's price.

Who said Innova is beating the Xylo, Sales figures say that Xylo has been sold more than the Innova.

i voted for yes. as i think they should bring it back. as a competitor for tavera it will surely sell. for the Taxi segment its the best car.

the replacement of qualis was innov and its going pretty well and so no need of bringing back its sibling,

qualis sold well during those times because its competitors were bolero & sumo. when mahindra lauched the scorpio, the sales of qualis fell to some extent. toyota responded with the innova & this time sales of scorpio fell by quite an extent!
now if the qualis is relaunched, it will not face success as competition is stronger. it cannot beat the xylo as the qualis's own successor- the innova is unable to beat it. yes, the qualis can be equally priced with th xylo, but when i can buy a modern MUV for the same money, why would i buy a outdated UV? remember, the qualis was designed in the 1980s!

@raj, very true. Infact what toyota should do is reduce the price of the Innova. it will then work wonders for toyota as we all know its a comparatively better car.

what if toyota bring new vehicle in xylo;s range may be all new qualis in new platform and features.

That would be great but Toyota dosen't have any such vehicle in its portfolio. The Innova is the future generation of the Qualis itself.

I dont think toyota will reduce any price any time soon, they are more interested in capturing the small car segment at the moment, good news for the customers is that we are getting spoilt for choices 8)
I would really like to see a toyota car compete with the likes of swift, vista, i20, jazz, grande punto and ritz

Qualis is just too outdated to re-enter the market. Since the discontinuation of Qualis, almost all of it's rivals have got a facelift which make them better than the crude Qualis.
I think the launch which everyone would consider sensible would be the Toyota Avanza.
It's a sensible car with more space than the Innova and it is pretty much in the league of Xylo.

Yup the Avanza is a nice car too, but has no 3rd row seating. I saw this car in South Africa and loved it. Its quite popular there.

You are mistaken dcargod, the Avanza does have third row seating.

Avanza looks more like a innova only but it can give tough competetion to Xylo!

Avanza is an awesome car, particularly on the highway.

if toyota launnches the avanza & prices it on par with the xylo, it would affect the sales of it's own innova, very badly.

I voted for "some other model" Option for the simple reason that qualis is much outated now and if if they give it a facelift, It won't be able to sompete with Xylo.
Toyota should consider of launching the avanza here and price it competitively.

Here are the tech specs of the Avanza, as sold in the phillipines... It makes sense to launch this vehicle here & compete with the xylo, if only they can price it between 6 to 7.5L with diesel option.

I voted for yes. But Toyota should launch with a face lift. If Tavera can sell, why can't Qualis. I agree it'll be more sold as Taxis, but anyways Toyota needs sales and it gets. Ultra reliable Qualis will be feast for frequent travellers, who couldn't afford Innova's price. I'll get one for sure.

Nope, That won't work, and who said Tavera is selling, chevy hiked its prices and now they are only paying for it.Also, If it is selling, there is a huge difference in the looks of both the cars, Qualis and Tavera.

well qualis might be outdated. but i feel even today toyota's flawless engine is better than xylo.

qualis is a good one but the tires are small for a vehicle of that segment
