Taking a leaf out of Honda’s book, Toyota has increased the prices of Innova and the recently launched Corolla Alits. The price revision for both Innova and Corolla Altis is in the range of Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000 depending on the variant.
“So far, we have tried to absorb price increases (input costs) as much as possible, in order to limit the increase passed on to the customers. However, due to unavoidable reasons such as recent changes in the rupee/dollar and yen/dollar exchange rate, we are now required to make necessary revisions in pricing,” Toyota Kirloskar Motor Deputy Managing Director (Marketing) Sandeep Singh.
The price increase could have an adverse effect on Innova’s sales which is facing steep competition from the recently launched Mahindra’s Xylo. The recent rather steep provision in prices by Honda Siel Motors India had made the Corolla Altis an even sweeter deal which has also been eroded to some extent. The sales figures for the coming month will provide a clear picture.
