Ford to hike ikon prices!

Ford India will increase the price of its entry-level sedan Ikon by up to 1.5% from April as it looks to offset rising component import bills due to rupee depreciation. The price hike would be restricted only to the Ikon as other models have already seen an increase.

“There will be an increase in the prices of Ikon by up to 1.5% from the price we announced last November while launching a new version of the car,” Ford India Executive Director (Marketing, Sales and Service) Nigel Wark said.

Ford had introduced the new version of the Ikon last November priced at Rs 5.19 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for the diesel variant and Rs 4.59 lakh for the petrol variant.




With the demand of the petrol version slowly picking up, Ford India will be increasing its production of petrol versions of both Ikon and mid-end sedan Fiesta.

This price is unexpected at the moment. Because Ikon got its sales, mainly for its price. But the price hike is not so high.

yeah CC the main reason ikon sold was its pricing, which now seems would be upwards by 8000 to 10000/- with that hike, not much hike but would definately affect its sales.Seems this is the common theory by manufacturers to get their upcoming models with good pricing and once booking starts with good response,hike its prices with common reason of import parts not affordable.

Its not a big hike which is going to make difference like CRV!!

So Ikon will still have good competetion in market :)

Yes this hike is not so high but ikon's sales are still not good, so ford shouldn't have taken this step.

yeah not much hike but still a hike does affects sales of that car, particularly if its from the company and model not selling like hot cake, few months down will we know hows the overall response for ikon.Is there any specific official site for sales chart of cars in indian market guys??

i don't think it should affect ikon sales much as the price increase is quite less. and even i would like to know if there is any official site for sales chart of cars in indian market.

But Hike never stops the sales of a car!!

Its just ASS that hits Ford very badly in INDIA, Ford atleast come up with an Best service Plan for Ka :)

i have been asking this since days but dont know any official sales chart site yet.
