Toyota Launches Corolla Altis Executive

Toyota India has quitely launched a new stripped down version of the Corolla Altis. The Corolla Altis Executive (known as 1.8J) is targetted more towards the taxi segment and loses load of important features such as front SRS Airbags, fog lamps, HIDs, mud flaps, audio system, audio controls on steering wheel, power seats, auto headlamps, rear arm rest, front arm rest, keyless entry, impact sensing fuel cut, etc. The Corolla Altis Executive is priced at Rs. 9,65,000/- (ex-showroom, Mumbai) and is cheaper by Rs. 1.3 lakhs from the 1.8G

well this i think is a way to keep ahead of civic as civic still sells quite well
but i find this lame IMO!

Airbags, keyless entry should be given. But aiming at taxi customers, this is a good move.

In an effort to appeal to 'target young car enthusiasts' Toyota has launched a limited edition variant of its Corolla Altis. Named the Corolla Altis Sport, Toyota says the car has been designed to 'give customers the stylish image of a car which is youthful and sporty'. The new
variant features a rear spoiler, side skirts, dual tone seat fabric and
wood finish rear cup holders.

Toyota says that these changes 'heighten the feeling of luxury and elegance'. However, it can be argued that the launching of a limited edition
variant less than a year after the car's launch is an attempt to
increase sales of the car that has not done as well against the
Corolla's bitter rival, the Civic, as Toyota would have liked.

Sales for the two cars have been almost neck and neck since the launch of the Corolla Altis last June. The Civic, by comparison, has been on sale in India since 2006.
Only 300 units of the Corolla Altis Sport will be made. The car will be priced at Rs 11.35 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

this variant is good for the taxi segment , and why does it even want to cut down the cost of mudflaps? that is cheap

that means, they RE-LAUNCHED the corolla executive!

Whats the difference between the sport and Executive versions?

Sport is a limited edition, only 300 will be made.

and Executive is just a normal variant, it is the basic variant too with features stripped down.

This is a very good move by Toyota to capture the Taxi market, which is currently increasing the number of Cedias in its fleet because of extremely good pricing. This stripped down variant may well be a competition against the Mitsubishi Cedia's growing popularity in the Taxi segment.

The Corolla Altis will be easier on maintenance, have good mileage and is very comfortable for back-benchers.
