Right from day one, it started munching miles seamlessly.. Its a perfect all-rounder which feels at home in City as well as Highways as well as off-roads..
Best thing about the Tucson is its engine which does 0-100 in less than 14 secs and reaches top whack of 185 (hav a pic).. All this while its giving fuel efficiency of 10 in city and 13 on highways..
Besides engine, I am also impressed with suspension set up of this one.. Its perfect balance of Ride and Handling.. I hav driven this one hard and I must say, that its better handler than sedans like Optra magnum/ Verna CRDi as well.. Grip is perfect and body control is superb..
Interiors are spacious and comfortable.. Rear seats lack bit of under-thigh support but hav loads of leg room.. Rear seat recline too and are fully foldable as well.. Front seats can be reclined and matched to rear seat (Similar to Xylo) and Front seat can be fully folded to form a table too (front seat back is hard to enable it to be used as a table)..
Now coming to weaknesses of this one.. Biggest weakness is Gearbox.. It just looks good but pathetic to operate.. Gear shaft is oddly angled making it bit tough to get used to.. It also lack any positive feel and down shifting from 3rd to 2nd is a pain particularly..
4wd of Tucson is a basic one which shifts to 4wd automatically if required or can be turned on by a switch to Right side of steering wheel.. Ground Clearence is good.. But this one is only for basic off-roading.. Try hard core off-roading and you are risking your gearbox/clutch/flywheel..
Spares cost of Tucson are very reasonable and servicing cost is affordable too (being Hyundai).. Availability of spares can be an issue though.. Hav to wait for a month for non-routine spares..
Looks of Tucson never fails to impress.. I just love those TIMELESS musculine body lines.. It is a photographer's delight.. Click from any angle and it has to be a good one..
Tyre life is approximately 50000kms for a set of 5.. My car is still running on its 3rd set of tyres which are due to be replaced soon..
Non-routine maintainence:
Changed the Chutch Plate/ Pressure Plate/ Flywheel twice.. 1st time at 55000kms (under warranty) and 2nd time at 1,24,000 kms for Rs. 55,000.. As I said before, attempt hard core off-roading and u risk ur Clutch/flywheel..
Clutch is still very hard and need to be replaced.. Every time I drive Tucson, I get a good workout for my left calf..
Brake system developed leakage at 1,40,000kms which was bcoz of some damaged pipe..
Besides this, theres nothing to fault with Tucson.. Under this condition, I can easily assume that it can be trouble free for upto 2,50,000kms.. All thanks to that 2.0 CRDi.. Its amazing.. and its way better than even Verna's in terms of reliability..
Its has taken all the use and abuse with a smile.. Morever, its not used single-handed too.. It was being used by 10 different people till date..
