YAY!! Car sales are rising!

NEW DELHI: Domestic passenger-car sales increased by 4.20 per cent in April to 1,02,899 units from 98,752 units in the same month last year.

According to figures released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), motorcycle sales in the country during the month was up 12.11 per cent at 5,62,357 units as against 5,01,592 units in the corresponding month a year ago.

Total two-wheeler sales in April also surged by 13.71 per cent to 7,00,995 units compared to 6,16,468 units in the same period last year.

Commercial vehicle sales, however, decreased last month to 29,842 units from 33,626 units in the year-ago period, a fall of 11.25 per cent, SIAM said.

Despite the Nano effect(many have opted for nano), the sales are on the rise. What if Nano's deliveries start? sales will get more higher, so as the traffic. :frustration: . We don't have proper infrastructure for that.

Really great news for Indian Auto Industry in recession times, In the month of April, I think MSIL and Hyundai made most of the profit.

This is good news. The scene here (DXB) is still bad. New cars are going for huge discounts. The used car scene is absolutely pathetic - for example, you could get a 2008 2 door 3 litre Mitsubishi Pajero, under 15,000km, agency maintained, full service history, choice of colours, for AED 42,000. Brand new price - AED 115,000.

Too bad you can't import LHD into India.

That is the fate of Indians, but we culdn't do much with LHDs even if we were permitted to import them. Any RHD market with the same scenario available?

Why? I learned to drive on an LHD when I was in Bombay. At the age of nine.

Had long highway drives in my car, fully loaded, with baggage & folks. Never a problem. Highways (undivided back then) were fun. Me & a cow got pretty close once, she sauntered into the middle of the road & refused to move out of the way - not a problem, except when you're barreling down the highway at 140km/h & your Mom's 'requesting' you rather forcefully to slow down.

Yeah, started driving at an early age. Anyway, the anecdote was off topic. What I was trying to say is that LHD cars aren't all that dangerous in an RHD environment - just have to use better judgement & more precaution than necessary.

Kids - do not attempt to drive underage. It's not worth it legally.
