this means that we would be soon seeing new Omni O2 from maruti and 800 might take time to come, waiting to see some spy shots of new omni.

That's right vijay. Omni O2 can be expected here by 2010. But i thought Indians would travel in much safer cars, if Omni was phased out. 🤢

MSIL NOT TO PHASE OUT 800 & OMNIE

Maruti Suzuki has not yet taken a call on phasing out its successful cars 800 and Omni. Earlier there have been reports that Maruti would phase out 800 and Omni by 2015. However, Maruti is now working on upgrading the 800 and Omni to meet Bharat Stage 4 emission norms, which will come into effect from 2010.
“We have not yet taken a call on phasing out 800 and Omni. The decision to phase out the models or not will be taken by our marketing division,” Maruti Suzuki Managing Executive Officer I V Rao said. “Our marketing team has asked us to upgrade the 800 and Omni to meet he 2010 emission norms. We are going ahead with it,” he added.

MS would have found it difficult to position Alto or the new 800 against Nano, so they might have taken this decision. With better engine, 800 will attract more. They should bring down 800's price by Rs.30k to give a tough fight to Nano. People who are ready to spend 1.80lacs for Nano, will be ready to spend a bit more to buy 800, if they can't wait for months to get Nano.

Driving the M800 is like driving a national monument.
25 yrs and still running, It ushered in the time of Premier Padmini and HM ambassador, when owning a car was a ramp up in social status, further more its the 1st people's car in India, also most of us have learned to drive in this car. So Indians are more sentimental towards the car which will be compromised in case of the Cervo.
