More news about the JLR Showroom, Mumbai
First Indian showroom of JLR to open in Mumbai on June 28, 2009
Even though its ultra-cheap car –Nano- continues to hog the limelight, Tata Motors, is gearing up to officially launch its Jaguar and Land Rover brands in India on June 28, and will also be inaugurating the marquee company’s exclusive showroom at Ceejay House in Worli, Mumbai on that day. After its Mumbai launch, JLR will be its way to Benguluru and then to Ludhiana. The newly-formed Premier Car Division, within Tata Motors Passenger Car Business unit, will assume responsibility for the distribution of all Jaguars and Land Rovers in India. This flagship facility will offer a range of both Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles and aims to establish a benchmark experience in luxury car sales in India. Rohit Suri, who has extensive premium automotive sector experience, has been appointed to head the new organisation and is leading plans to develop a dealer network through 2009 and 2010.
Jaguar Land Rover has confirmed that it is to begin selling its range of premium performance saloon cars and sports utility vehicles in the Indian market shortly and had reached agreement with Tata Motors Limited to be the exclusive importer.
Jaguar and Land Rover's award-winning vehicles, including Jaguar's XF and XKR and Land Rover's Discovery and Range Rover, are renowned around the world for their unique blend of refined luxury, quality and capability and will now become officially available in this rapidly expanding market.
David Smith, CEO of Jaguar Land Rover, had earlier said: "We are delighted to be formally entering the Indian market, an economy which is still growing appreciably, and able to offer our premium products to a whole new group of customers. It is an important strategic move for Jaguar Land Rover and will enable us to realise our competitive potential in this significant market." Ravi Kant, managing director of Tata Motors had commented: "This is a natural move for both businesses and will allow Jaguar and Land Rover to establish a strong and deserved presence in India. We are very pleased to develop our relationship with Jaguar Land Rover in this way and to provide the opportunity for Indian customers to access their premium products for the first time."

Re: Jaguar and Landrover launched!
The showroom looks just awesome. I hope to buy a Land Rover from there one day. As per CC's opinion of comfort of XF, an India spec model has already been tested on Mumbai roads on the Autocar Show. That only shows that it isn't as comfy as the E-Class.

Thanks a lot Vibhor for the price list. Out of this, I think Freelandar which competes with CRV, is overpriced. Discovery is a good Bargain though.Vibhor wrote:Heres a list of what the JLR cars would cost when they make it to India next month........................

You are welcome abhi.
I feel most of these cars are well priced and could sell in good volume.
As you said, Discovery is pick of the lot, BTW, Do you have any plans to buy one?

Not bad at all.
a RR for 35-38 no matter the base model would be very good.
Good going JLR and Tata.

Well, considering the Freelander is an X3 , XC60 Q5 Diesel rival, it is superbly priced.

To me, The Freelander (or say all the LR SUVs)look like proper SUVs if we compare it with X3, Q5 etc.

There is no doubt that the Freelander will sell well. It, afterall, does justice to the term 'SUV' and looks like a proper macho one at that. It will automatically find favour in the market.

Re: Jaguar and Landrover launched!
The Jaguar XFR is quite highly priced, It would compete with 7series & Sclass etc.
Also, As previously said by a member sometime back, These beauties will be serviced on TATA workshops!

Re: Jaguar and Landrover launched!
XFR is a total bomb, it outclasses the 7 and the W12 in performance.
But the only bad [ and ironical ] thing about this car is that despite having 503 bhp under it's hood, it manages to be more smooth and quieter than the Rolls Royce, and that takes away the SUPERCAR FEEL away from it.

Jaguar seems to be on the pricier side, so we shouldn't expect much volumes.Vibhor wrote:Heres a list of what the JLR cars would cost when they make it to India next month.

I guess Landrover will do well here.

tata servicing a 1cr car is the most hilarious part, it doesnt even train its employees on how to behave wiht a 5llakh car and what will they teach about handling a 1cr car?
they serously need some training, atleast for LR and jaguar

Hey friends, I don't think the servicing part will be done in TATA workshops. Tata knowa only too well about its reputation. I think there will be dedicated personnel to do this job.

Re: Jaguar and Landrover launched!
Servicing will not be done at Tata workshops, but in general the mindset of management and the working personnel will remain same as regular Tata service, unless they use completely new team by pulling some one from competitive brands, etc..

Rata tata at the launch party in Mumbai
Tata Motors Ltd india's largest vehicles maker, on Sunday announced the launch in India of Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles, the marquee brands it bought from Ford Motors last year.
Saying it was a momentous occasion for the company, chairman Ratan Tata said, "This is in keeping with our desire to extend the penetration of the brands in India."
The automobile firm, which controls about 60 percent of the world's fifth-biggest truck and bus market, will soon also be rolling out the Nano, billed as the world's cheapest car.
Jaguar is launching the XF amd XK range of luxury coupes and convertibles in India starting at a price tag of 6.3 million rupees ($130,977) and going up to 9 million rupees.
Land Rover will initially be launching three vehicles including the Range Rover Sport and Land Rover Discovery 3, with prices also starting at 6.3 million rupees but going beyond 9 million.
"The luxury car market in India is very small, but there is a huge opportunity there. It is growing fast and we expect it to grow fast over the next 5 to 10 years," said David Smith, chief executive of Jaguar Land Rover.
"India is an important part of our plans for the future," said Mike Driscoll, managing director of Jaguar.
