Thumbs up Scheduled Service Plan for Ford customers in India

Post  Crazy cat 7th June 2009, 1:24 am

Ford Service today(Friday 15 May, 2009) launched its newest service product for Ford customers, the Scheduled Service Plan [SSP], another industry-first service offering to lower the cost of ownership of Ford cars.

Scheduled Service Plan is a brand new service pack for periodic and scheduled maintenance of vehicles, and covers scheduled services such as engine oil change, fuel filter, oil filter, air filter, spark plugs, etc. The pack includes labour charges of periodical maintenance service and replacements at a discounted price for a fixed duration.

Starting 15th May, Scheduled Service Plan will be available at prices starting from Rs. 8,400 for 2year/40,000km on the Fiesta Petrol and Rs. 9,350 for Fiesta Diesel. A wide range of plans are available to customers according to their requirements. SSP can be availed by new customers at Ford dealerships in 15 cities* across India.

Nigel Wark, executive director – Marketing, Sales & Services, Ford India said, ''Scheduled Service Plan is a great tool that provides ease of maintenance and allows the cost of periodic maintenance at specific intervals to remain unaffected by inflation, with the consumer making a one-time payment upfront.''

    HIGHLIGHTS
    -Protects against inflation
    -One time payment
-SSP Plan accepted across all Ford authorized dealerships

    -Covers all Scheduled Services
    -Engine Oil change
    -Fuel filter
    -Oil Filter
    -Covers Labour for scheduled services

    -Does not cover
    -Wear & tear parts
    -Accident repairs
    -Mechanical & electrical failures
    -Tyres
    -Plans
    -2Yr/40K kms
    -3Yr/60K kms
    -4Yr/80K kms
    -5Yr/100K kms

The SSP is being offered as an Extended Service Business (ESB) product where the customer pays for the same upfront thereby saving money on regular maintenance. This product will be available to both fleet and retail customers. In addition, the plan is transferable, thereby increasing the resale proposition of the car. SSP does not cover wear & tear parts, accident repairs, mechanical & electrical failures and tyres.

Customers covered under the Scheduled Service Plan need to bring their vehicles for periodic maintenance service to the Ford dealer and the vehicle would be serviced at the dealerships by technicians trained and certified by Ford India. Greater advantage for a SSP covered customer will be that he can drive into any Ford dealership across the country and drive out without the hassles of billing transaction during each of their visit for periodical maintenance service.

''SSP is another well thought initiative from Ford to bring our customers enhanced value and total peace of mind.'' added Wark.
Ford India now offers a comprehensive range of service products to cover the maintenance of cars, including Extended Warranty (EW); Total Maintenance Plan (TMP) and now Scheduled Service Plan that will cover possible mechanical & electrical failures; wear & tear of parts; and scheduled maintenance respectively.

Ford India continues to enhance its unmatched customer experience through the expansion of its nationwide dealership base, the introduction of world-class after-sales services and initiatives, and a constant effort to improve the overall quality and convenience of the Ford brand.

    Now this has become normal.
Everycar maker is starting such schemes, Even Skoda Auto has also started its Pre-Monsoon Check up.

Hope Renault comes up something similar like this. Every paid service costs above rs.12000. But for Fiesta diesel, 40000kms(4*10000km service costs only Rs. 9350)

No information about Maruti's plan. But i think, Maruti won't give any such plans because they don't have bad reputation like Chevy or Ford, as far as service is concerned.

MSIL might introduce such scheme soon.
This is not mainly because of bad repo but because of attracting more customers IMO.

Sure vibhor, But many were against Ford and Chevy's high service cost. Just to make up buyer's mind, Chevy came up with such a plan and its been a hit, Ford is following Chevy. Chevy had more sales because of the 3yrs/45000 service scheme.

Maruti already has good sales and good repo on reasonable service costs, so they won't think of such plans, at least for two years.

Hey CC, :agree: that Maruti has no reason to bring such plans because of its already affordable maintenance. But for Ford, it was necessary because it has a very bad reputation for ASS, and this might lure some more buyers to their products.

Ford,GM's reputation in market was not luring customers in an attractive way which is why GM and then followed by Ford brought this scheme which proved boon for GM and might for Ford too,Maruti on other hand might come out with something like this as its an added attraction on maruti's tag, lets wait and see what comes up and how does Ford;s plan gets successful in market.
