Tata Motors World Truck to be launched by end of May

Tata Motors' new range of World Trucks will be more expensive than its current range...


Tata Motors is expected to launch its ‘World Truck’ by the end of May this year. The company – India’s largest manufacturer of commercial vehicles – plans to phase out its existing H/MCVs and replace those with the new World Truck, though all variants of the latter will be more expensive than Tata Motors’ current range of trucks.

Tata Motors’ world truck has been developed with the company’s subsidiary, Tata Daewoo Commercial Vehicle (TDCV). Built on a completely new platform and powered by 185-565HP engines, the new truck will be a state-of-the-art product and will take on trucks from Volvo, Nissan, Mercedes-Benz, MAN and others.

In keeping with requirements of the domestic market, Tata Motors will launch world truck variants of up to 300HP in India, while the more powerful variants will be slated for exports markets.

tata in collaboration with daewoo in making trucks? :?: i dint know that

I guess Tata bought Daewoo more than a year back. We could expect some increase in quality in trucks. As Tata trucks also have niggling problems compared with others.

though tata has less quality compared to other manufacturers in the market, people go for tata trucks and they call them RELIABLE.. i remember one of my cousins truck driver telling that

Tata trucks are great for driving in hill with good amount of pick-up. I heard from my Uncle who has couple of trucks saying that small problems are always with Tata. Leyland gives out less problems than Tata.

that is true, but tata trucks are very powerful engines compared to other trucks

i agree with CC. since ours is a construction company, we have stopped buying tata trucks. they tend to give more problems than leyland. also, drivers say the leyland is more comfortable to drive & the tata struggles to climb up inclines with heavy loads, which is a must in construction sites.
sometimes, i have a small chat with truck drivers. they say for city use, tata is better as service & parts is available nearby, if something goes wrong. they have faster acceleration compared to leylands. but on highways, leyland scores more. they are less noisy, ride is better and load pulling capacity is also more. they tend to give lesser issues which is mandatory in highways & remote areas.

Tata desperately needs to change its product portfolio as old 407s and other Tata trucks which we regularly see, are in dire need of replacement.
