Adding some more from the Shell website:
Tips for You and Your Bike
Hard Braking
-Practise hard, controlled braking.
-Always be ready to ease off brake pressure when surfaces change.
-Help your suspension settle down with a smooth transition from off brakes, to on brakes.
Counter Steering
-Steer quickly and precisely
-Turn your bars in the opposite direction in which you are travelling
-If your bars are turned to the left, the bike goes right (and vice versa)
Changing Gear
-Smooth gear changing gives better acceleration
-Your engine life is increased through gear usage
-Obtain better acceleration with swift gear selection
Throttle Use
-Use the throttle progressively
-Do not pin the throttle to the stop
-Use the throttle correctly to gain better ground clearance
Clutch Control
-Don't always use the clutch for changing up gears
-Always use the clutch to change down through gears
-Good clutch control saves wear and tear on your gear box
Engine Braking
-Correct use of braking helps to stabilise the bike into turns
-Because of the lack of brake light, only engine brake when riding in groups
-Don't use engine braking too much on two-strokes as the bike may seize if it's overdone
Tyre Pressures
-Don't stray from the recommended settings
-Check pressures with stone cold tyres
-Always check pressures after getting new tyres fitted
You and the Road
Reading The Road
-Beware of seasonal hazards such as snow and ice.
-Look over hedges and past dips to get an early warning of trouble.
-Scan oncoming traffic for insight on what's coming up.
Riding at Night
-Look to one side of oncoming lights
-Choose highly visable (reflective) clothing
-Vanishing Point
-When approaching a corner, look at the point where the two kerbs appear to meet
-The way the point appears to moves, tells you the way the road is going to go
-If it moves towards you, the corner is going to get tighter
-If it stays where it is, then the corner is a constant radius bend
-If the point moves away from you, then it is beginning to open out
U-turns
-Practise your low speed control - the basis of u-turns
-Look back to where you want to go and follow the line of your eyes
Riding In The Wet
-Keep looking far ahead
-Be smooth with your throttle and brakes
-Soft suspension is good, but don't lower your tyre pressure
You and Other Motorists
Overtaking
-Hang back and get a clear view past the car in front
-Move around carefully for maximum visability
-Be ready for when the next gap appears
Relax in Comfort
-Keep your back straight to avoid fatigue
-Good posture aids comfort and bike control
-Combine a high level of mental concentration with physical relaxation
Group Riding
-Ride with people you can trust
-Choose your riding partners carefully
-Don't feel pressured into riding fast just to keep up
-If someone following you is struggling, slow down
Riding with a Passenger
-Ensure passengers have the correct kit
-Explain to your passenger what to expect
-Check that they keep looking ahead, just like you
-Make sure they understand how to lean the same way as the bike
Crash Avoidance
-Don't panic
-Brake hard in a straight line
-Back off the brakes and turn quickly
-Stay off your brakes in a turn as it's harder for your tyres to respond
Be Seen
-Ride with your lights on dipped beam to help you be seen at night
-Try to maintain a clear line of sight between you and other road users
-When following vehicles, position yourself so you have the best chance of being seen in their mirrors
