@abhinav its a traffic rule here in ahmedabad to put a yellow tape on the right light of every car. even i am trying to guess the reason for the law. but you get fined if you dont have that. it looks so bad when cars like BMWs and Mercs have to put such yellow tapes. it looks as if they have broken their headlamps.

Yes, Its a rule, its just like in some cities that cars should have a black tape above the headlamps and reason for it is quite simple that is done because in the night time if the car is driven even with high beam its light doesn't falls on eyes of the car's driver coming from opposite lane.

but here in ahmedabad its a yellow tape and that too between the headlamp and the side indicator. what could be the reason for that? as it does not stop any light.

Yes it does! It prevents the light going on right side, Check this rough diagram I've made, hope it helps -
In this, When both the cars from opposite lane will come with high beams the light will fall on the both the driver's eyes but when we have this tape it will not.

But vibhor in this the High beam is towards the centre.
The one on the outside is the low beam with the projector.
So ideally it does not do any prevention.
I guess its state specefic.

Maybe, but i think when we switch to high beam it spreads on the sides too, anyways let's come back to import car topic. :)
