    Cool Innova v/s Xylo

    Post  car-o-static 26th April 2009, 12:45 pm

Now both of them are MPVs in the true sense of the word. If you compare them you'll fond your brain caught in a tug-of-war. I mean what one of them might lack the other one compensates. Still a competition is a competition. now lets see who scores more brownie points.

Toyota Innova: The cars looks more like a minivan. However it was designed keeping the modern family in mind, who prefers to go on long drives on a lazy sunday.
This cars got versatility with all the goodies packed inside. It maybe a little large but once at the wheel you get a sense that your in good control of the car. Also sitting on any of the chairs is like sitting on the living room sofa. Looks are simple but it has a strange beauty in its simplicity. When driving this You feel that you can go from point A to B in a safe and luxurious environment. The car is ideal for long romantic drives with the wife...that is unless you have noisy kids on the back seat...or if the wife is a complete hoot who questions your driving skills. Also the car is incredibily noiseless for the people inside... you get a sense of nirvana while in this car. Toyota cars are known for their reliabilty and luxury and the Innova has'nt disappointed.

Mahindra Xylo: Another versatile machine from the house of the UVs. India's 1st homegrown MPV, that even gave the foreign MPVs a run for their money. The xylo is perhaps the only Car to have offered 2 flat beds...which might come in handy whenever you have a fight with the wife and she throws you out of the bedroom. Mahindra practically threw in everything except the kitchen and the bathroom. Some car critics say that the car also has better off-roading capabilities than the Gypsy, which means you can pretty much go camping with a partner and you know that you dont require a tent because you already have 2 beds in the car. Although its huge and I mean huge, it appears marginally bigger then the Scorpio, it handles satisfactorily well, with already 5000+ bookings we can understand the Indian sentiment with this car. However its looks are a bit awkward to say the least, it appears more like a fat lady wearing skinny jeans but overall its a great car + its homegrown...what will they think of next?

Still I can't decide which is better, so I'll let you guys decide for me. 8)

i have voted for the xylo.
the aspects of xylo i like over the innova are:
    1) it is more refined than innova
    2) it is more powerful, hence more driveable
    3) it has a very spacious cabin & many thoughtful features when compared to the innova.

being a mahindra, i feel it will be reliable though not as much as the toyota, of course! but even if the xylo does show some nuggling issues, mahindra's service is much cheaper than the toyota. of course, the toyota has the brand name & a better ride & interior quality, but then the xylo is a cool 2 lakhs cheaper! i can use that saved money to accessorise my car!

Though overpriced as compared to its competition, the Innova is one of the best in the Segment.
Excellent Comfort, excellent engine, excellent badge name.
    Excellent quality and much more.
I'd anyday go for an Innova over the Xylo

Both, The innova and Xylo are very good products, Personally I like both the cars but after looking at Xylo's feature list at down to earth price tag, I would definately prefer it anyday, but I do agree that Xylo can't beat innova lookwise.
I've sat in both the cars and innova is quite comfortable but you feel very cramped in its last rows whereas Xylo's last rows are as spacious as its front most.:winkthumb:

I've voted for the Xylo as I think it is the car in which I can 'have the time of my life'. Its got everything-powerful diesel engine with good FE, comfort which is better than Innova, features that have not even come in the refreshed Innova, cheaper service cost and price tag, good ride quality, more rugged for those little off-road jaunts, innovative features, etc..!!
All the Xylo needs is a DVD-screen inside for the rear passengers to enjoy a movie on a long drive. 👍

though choice is xylo, innova beats it on looks and luxury department, toyota makes you feel luxurious to mahindra which always feels jeep and sturdy.

Well since the xylo costs a whole 2L less. We can utilise that money to accessorise, which can include a LCD monitor and Also a GPS for those highway trips

@car-o-static; Absolutely! and not even full 2lacs, It can be easily done within a lac.
@Vijay ; Innova wins in only looks department, Xylo can compete with innova in terms of luxury. :)

Well, XYLO has beated INNOVA in this poll and in SALES too!Check this -

Mahindra has created a record of sorts in April, with three of its models taking pole position in the domestic utility vehicles (UV) segment. Sales of M&M’s Xylo, Bolero and Scorpio models last month overtook Toyota’s Innova and the Sumo and Safari models of Tata Motors. The Xylo continues its strong run since its launch in January 2009 and has posted its highest monthly sales in April. Till now, the company has delivered over 10,000 Xylos and recently raised the price of the vehicle by around Rs 10,000.
Their combined market share stood at 65% last month compared with 47% a year ago. M&M saw a 16% jump in April sales (including from joint ventures) to 22,617 units, as elections boosted demand for its UV products tailor-made for rough terrain of rural India. Over 6,000 units of the Bolero were sold in April, with the newly-launched Xylo selling 3,509 units and the Scorpio doing 3,100 units. Against this, the Toyota Innova sold 2,834 units, while the Tata Sumo sold 1642 units (including 174 units of Grande) and the Safari sold 774 units.
After the launch of the Xylo, company officials maintain that some amount of cannabalisation would occur among its UV products. Since Xylo’s launch, M&M has witnessed around 15% cannibalisation between the SUVs.

Xylo, because it is very VFM and spacious.
No one really drives an MUV, it's for being chauffeured.

I though like Xylo for its space and VFM, i'd go for Innova. It is decently spaced for 8, has a good engine, reliable, good ride and handling, which the Xylo fails to deliver and not to forget the quality.
