    Angry Speed Limits!!

    Post  dcargod 15th April 2009, 3:33 pm

Hey friends we all know that most countries throughout the world have speed limits set on all their roads. Among the exceptions, India is one of them. It is also a fact that many accidents occur due to over or under speeding on our roads. So setting speed limits is absolutely prudent for a safer and a more relaxed movement of traffic. Here are some speed limits that I find appropriate on all our road conditions. Your views and a discussion on this will help us greatly in keeping everyone safer.

    Residential roads: 20-40
    Single laned city roads: 40-60
    Double/triple laned city roads: 60-90
    Single laned highways: 70-90
    Double/triple laned highways/epressways: 100-140

Not only this, but what steps should we take, being the youth of India, to educate people on the matter of speed limits and make it an enforced law and charging heavy penalties on defaulters. It is upto us to educate people and we must always remember that one educated person can make a whole lot of difference. And for those who like to drive their vehicles flat out, there should be special sections for them. Because the ultimate aim is to keep everyone happy, satisfied and SAFE.

i think single-laned highways should be upto 90-100
double/triple laned highways should be upto 100-170/180!

Speed limits on no account reduce accidents. It is rash driving, that should be taken care of. Whatever the road may be, people will drive at a speed that suits the road and traffic, sometimes less than speed limit and sometimes more than it. People should be educated on road manners, discipline, etc..

Thats true but there are people who drive at high speeds, taking advantage of no speed limits and make accidents.

Double/triple laned city roads should be 40-60 and not 60-90.
