Now Maini Reva charges in only 60mins.!

This is what all of us here were waiting for after our brush with electric scooters last year- Lithium Ion technology. Subsequently came news, of Nissan’s affordable electric car which would also make use of Lithium Ion units.

Indian car company Maini, which manufactures the Reva (or G-Wiz to our foreign readers) has received it’s New Year’s gift in the form of a Lithium Ion battery pack. The car has been announced in Europe, but expect it to trickle into India by the end of this year.

Cool Features of Lithium Ion Maini Reva-

• The Lithium Ion battery pack gives the Reva a range of 75 miles

• Top speed increased to 50 mph.

• The Lithium Ion unit also lasts longer and comes with a 3 year warranty.

• What’s terrific is the battery needs just 60 minutes to charge to full capacity.

• The battery pack weighs much lesser and will reflect in better acceleration times.

But india is not a nice place to sell Green Vehicles :)

We people dont even know the value of our environment, SO it will be very hard till we understand these concepts :)

And Indian govt should also concentrate in laying good roads everywhere, so green vehicles are easier to drive :)

what u have said zinam is very true but i am sure people will start looking at green environment sooner or later, as for now two wheeler segment does see a rise on electric run vehicles so by time in 4 wheelers too we might c some change and acceptance. VIBS nice info mate.i guess read it in TOI couple of days back that reva's new version with more space on rear with more speed and new battery will be rolled out soon, so may be this version u said is coming in our market too.CHEERS

Reliance Digital to Retail India’s First Electric Car Reva

Reliance Digital has united with REVA electric car company, manufacturers of 1st e-car of the India, for selling RECC’s E-Cars using its outlets across the country.





Along with consumer electronics and IT products-services, Reliance Digital is planning to sell these cars through their stores in Delhi and Hyderabad in a first phase. Afterwards this idea will be extended to other cities also.This scheme by Reliance Digital is the try to promote an environment friendly car by conveying the message of social & environment awareness to all its customers.

"We are extremely buoyant with this tie up as it would be an unique initiative wherein a technology retailer would move beyond its regular frontiers to promote and sell a forward looking technology which would support the cause of a safer and greener tomorrow in the automative arena."

- Mr. Ajay Baijal (President & Chief Executive, Reliance Digital) said.

Reva Electric Car Co has announced that it will launch a new model powered by advanced battery technology this year and also set up its second manufacturing plant in the country. The company plans to sell 1,000 electrical vehicles this fiscal.

“We will launch our lithium-ion based battery-powered car in May this year. This will have 120 km range, ideal for city driving conditions. The new battery will allow consumers to recharge within an hour,” Reva deputy chairman and chief technical officer Chetan Kumaar Maini said. “We will add another factory to the existing one in Bangalore with installed capacity of 30,000 vehicles,” he added.
Reva also plans to strengthen its distribution network. The company has exclusive showrooms in Delhi and Bangalore and sales outlets in cities like Pune and Hyderabad. Recently the company tied up with Reliance Digital to sell cars through their network. Reva is also planning to bring out solar powered electrical vehicles.

Nice news vibhor. A great move by Reva indeed. 120km range and can be recharged in an hour are welcome changes.

this was in news few months back, but a nice move by company to get this more efficient battery with 120 kms run is sufficient for a city driving users.This year seems to be a full of new launches around.CHEERS!!!

Hi everyone! A news about new Reva sedan:

If you hate the boxy little two seater Reva, here is one you would love and also save the environment. Reva is planning to launch a three box sedan. Reva sedan will be a Reva but with a boot. Reva is developing the Reva sedan on the same platform of Reva. Reva sedan would hit the market by the end of 2009.

well i think firstly they need to give space on the second row to accomodate adults and then think of getting a boot in it. Same size shape Reva with a boot would be lovely to see.... :lol!: :affraid:
