I've read some reviews, where they pointed the poor fit and finish of interiors in GP.

dcargod wrote:I have also test driven the GP mjd. It is drab compared to Swift diesel. Agreed that theres almost no turbo lag in GP, it has no midrange or top end either. Going at 120 kmph felt so annoying and it was difficult to push further with the engine noise getting too much vocal and no real power delivery. On the contrary, Swift and Ritz diesel feel very lively and touching 140 kmph with them is so easy. Their engines have a perfect balance in city and highway performance, which makes them much more enjoyable to drive than the GP.
As far as handling goes, the GP is much better than the other hatches. In fact, its a legend. But the poor engines donot do justice to it.
Both GP and Linea are capable for handling much more power. Fiat should bring the 1.3 VGT engine for GP, at least.

what i am saying is that yes hummer what we found was good but another TD with a friend and we saw few bolts coming out one from door, one from driver's seat and one from dash, cabin was making hell noise and overall wasent looking that good as we saw few days back, so really i question the reliability of GP now, also i would post a link from tbhp, where a member also found a screw fallen off duringhis TD along with pictures.

even i have tested the gp recently, true ders no turbo lag. the car feels underpowered when compared to swift dzire
maybe fiat should have used a 90 bhp variable geometric turbo to compensate with its solid built

There's a lot of hoo haa about the quality of plastics and the engine. I've driven the Linea, Punto, Vista and Swift. Overall the Fiats are much better.

incabin insulation, engine performance, loose plastics and fitments which tend to come out from seats, bench, dash are the biggest drawback for this superb vehicle which has perfect weighted steering, stability and superb suspentions, but above things are a bit scary.Check the link given for further pictures.

I went for a TD and got the GP Petrol, I tried to open the bonnet to take a look at the engine and pulled the plastic lever and it came out and it was in my hand... now you can imagine the quaity of plastic used.

thats exactly what is happening with quite few people on their TD, so reliability is an issue where these TD vehicles are hardly few K's older and fitments coming out, bolts falling off are scary things affraid

I guess Tata's effect is laying on Fiat. I've seen many Tata TD cars(actually one you and me would probably own) with bad condition with some rattles, scratches, etc...

Don't buy the 1.4 liter FIRE engined Punto, as it feels very stressful to drive. I suggest you put your money down on the upcoming Polo or the Ford Verve. Both will be awesome cars to drive.

Oh! I had almost made up my mind for 1.4 FIRE just because I wanted more power. Is there any negative feedback on this car? I searched but didn't found anything so far. Internationally 1.4 engine is doing well too. Is there any specific reason for your suggestion ?

Personally Speaking, I say that don't finalise on anything now. December is still far and by that time you will see many new and better cars in this segment.

The 1.4lt petrol is very underpowered to say the least. It takes a lot of time to wake up and needs to be revved hard to get something out of it. You will understand once you drive it. I didn't drive, but sat in a GP 1.4 petrol along with a friend, who was driving. He too complained of the lack of grunt.

Yeah! But what is surprising is, the same engine in Linea performs better, despite being 150kg heavier. Why Fiat is not able to master the tuning of engine?

exactly CC, fiat didnt tuned these engines perfectly for GP which are doing good on lineas but not on GP,maybe fiat was looking to give more fuel efficiency along with controlled power or so. stupid

Are they doing this purposefully lol! Grande Punto is a great success here in Europe and there are different sports versions as well. Yesterday, I saw an ABHARAT version of Punto (Black & White series). It was excellent !!

Exactly! that was a typo Sad. The most interesting & attractive thing was the interior. They have even changed the dash board, black leather seat with good stitching work, the same type of gear leaver and knob..etc..etc.. I was really impressed with that one.
