Hyundai Sonata to get Direct Injection Engine

Hyundai is getting ready to add direct injection to its 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. Power from the DI four cylinder goes from 176 to 200 hp, and will likely get around 5-10 percent better gas mileage, finds a home under the new Sonata's bonnet.

sounds good. it will see a price hike. lets see if it comes out as value for money.

thats great news! the sonata always needed a better engine with more power. now only if they could offer a better AT.

I don't think this would increase its sales by a margin. Sonata is another failure model from Hyundai. They should launch an all-new model to keep going.

i have seen a lot of sonata's. they do sell because of the diesel engine and being cheaper than accord. although i personnaly dont like the car very much.

yes hummer, the main reasons for sonata selling is the option for diesel crdi engine and price which is cheaper to its rival accord, but still this seems good news which sonata always needed more power, what price rise is expected.

I think that along with all that power, the car desperately needs a more advanced auto box. The car feels gutless with the four speed auto, eating into the car's power and torque. It especially groans a lot on the highway. But otherwise, I find the car to be a very nice one.

Sonata is a nice premium luxury car, Good to know that it would be soon powered with a DI Engine.
I've too seen few sonatas and I'm quite impressed with this car, A good alternative for those who can't go for Accord as said by hummer, But as the Jetta is already here, It can give tough times to sonata.(Or say its already giving).

Here Sonata hardly sells. Not only Sonata, bigger Hyundais doesn't do well here, except the elantra. But Elantra too had a tough time towards its end, as many reliability issues were reported.

So i thought the scenario is same across the country.

no CC there are people who does buy bigger hyundai cars, i have seen quite few of sonata's and tucson;s around my city and the main reasons i believe is its crdi engine which isnt available with honda, i mean diesel engines, but as vibs said VW is around which has some effect on hyundai with its range.

By the Way, When will this Sonata DI launch?
