Trip to Shirdi -The Holy Place of Sai Baba[Pg.2]

Hi Guys!
I'm planning to go Shirdi in this summer (Maybe May-June).
As I'll be going for the first time, I don't have any idea how to reach there and about the route of train and other things there, So if anyone has already gone there can please guide.

i just went to Shirdi.
I went there via Pune through Air.
Its a 4 hour or so drive from Pune.

There are many hotels you can stay at.
Try avoid visiting the temple on Weekdays and if possible completely avoid thursday. You'll have to wait for hours in the queue.

Thanks for your reply. Somebody told me that we can also go via Nasik by train but as you said we can go via Pune route also, by air, so I'll check out for tickets on net.
Also, can you tell after reaching Pune then how can we go to shirdi, means what all mode of transport is available like taxi etc?and any idea of charges?because as i said in my post that am going for first time so i don't have any idea.

Ya, I know that there will be rush on Thursdays but why on weekdays?will there be more rush on weekdays than weekends?Thanks. :)

you can also have good volvo buses from pune to shirdi all day round, taxi's too available, if you are 4-5 people going get a taxi form pune else even volvo buses are very comfortable and easy, private travellers as well as corporation volvo buses runs. Govt. bus service is very prompt with their timings to try to go through them, no need to book tickets as just go to bus station, check out for shirdi station and get your ticket from there itself.MOrnings have volvo every half an hour till 1 pm, then every hour till 4 pm and again till 10 pm every half hour.

Thanks thackervijay, If theres service of Volvos also then i think they are better option as you said because we will be 2 people going or maybe 3, Any idea of other places to visit there in shirdi? :)

no buddy havent been there so no idea, have travelled from pune to mumbai through their volvo bus so know their service.

Ok, No probs vijay, I've also heard theres a route via Kopargaon there if we go by train, Any idea about that? :roll:

I dont think there is any place apart from the temple and surroundings.
There is a water park though.
I remember watching posters about it.
Yea its quite crowdy on week ends.
Though i was lucky enough to have waited only an hour for our chance.
The next sunday, we saw, the queue was almost half a km outside the gate from where it would have taken another hour.

We had hired a taxi. Its an expensive option though.

Thanks but I won't be going to water park and all, I've also heard that there are few other temples near shirdi and hey is there any museum of sai baba there??I saw it on TV. :)

Yea there is a museum.
There are 2 / 3 temples around the temple.
There is dwarkamai and some houses also.
Do check them all.

P.S. Do not forget to buy flowers from outside.

Do you have any idea how is the place kopergaon? Are there any facilities available in it or its just like a village only?
Because I've heard that Shirdi is just 6Kms away from it! :)

I'm Back from Shirdi,Had awesome time there(Thanks to abhinav for all those advice).
Also went to few nearby places like Daman and Diu etc, Will put up a review soon with some pics. :)
