McLaren Automotive , which, which until now was a part of the McLaren Group, is slated to become an independent company later this year. The company will develop and build a range of McLaren sports [color:c1af=#043764! important]cars, and build on the success of the McLaren F1 and Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren.
There is a new McLaren F1 in the pipeline too, but crucially for McLaren is a more everyday supercar — the P11. The P11 will have further variants, which include a hardcore P13 that could take the fight to the 430 Scuderia.
Ron Dennis, chairman of the McLaren Group, will head the venture as executive chairman of McLaren Automotive.
Dennis who has handed over responsibilities as chief executive officer of McLaren Racing to Martin Whitmarsh, believes that with the additional investment of 250 million pounds (Rs 1,750 crore), proposals in place for a new McLaren car production facility in the UK that will employ around 800 people will keep the company debt-free. :winkthumb:
