Smile DIY-paint your disc calipers and rear drum

    Post  napster 5th May 2009, 3:47 pm

All you need for this DIY is a paint spray can, jack, spanner, news papers, and some patience :D

To start with, jack your car and take your tyre off,

DIY- Painting Disc calipers & Drums! Dsc01914

due to the indian conditions your disc caliper is full of dust and oil on it, this doesnt allow the paint to settle on it so use " metal thinner" to clean the caliper

DIY- Painting Disc calipers & Drums! Dsc01915

cover the isc and other parts with newspaper spo that the paint doesnt settle on any other part except the caliper

now spray the paint all over the caliper and let it dry, after its dry spray another coat for a better finish
after the second coat is dry, take out all the covering

now put bac your tyre and dont forget to tighten the screws

DIY- Painting Disc calipers & Drums! Dsc01918

repeat the same procedure for the other front tyre
    coming to the back tyre
jack itup and remove the tyre

clen the drum with thinner, cover the screws so that paint doesnt settle on it, else you will face problems in fitting the bolts,

spray the paint and let it dry, repeat this for 2times for a better finish

DIY- Painting Disc calipers & Drums! Dsc01921

remove the covering on the screws and install the tyre back,

half bottle is more than eneough dude, i applied 3coats and still there is plenty of paint left in the can, i guess the left over paint can be used to paint another car's calipers and drums
