I am planning to get new door speakers for my Swift. I just came across a brand called KIKKERS!! I would like to know your views about this brand, its pricing, and comparison with other brands like Pioneer, JBL, JVC, Alpine, etc in terms of good base and clarity at high volume.

I've heard of Kicker. But no idea about it, must be on the high-end, as its price was higher.

Is it more expensive than JBL, Alpine, etc.. And ya, my mistake, the spelling is Kicker and not Kikers.

hi buddy
NO, i dont have kickers in my car. infact, i had auditioned kickers before installing JBL in my car. i was not too impressed with the kicks of the kickers! bass & punch was too low and i would advise you to avoid that brand.
there are many good brands like polk, JBL, infinity & ground zero, also expensive ones like rainbow & rockford fosgate. i personally like JBL, great value for money or shall i say "good bang for your buck"!!!
for speakers, consider the above mentioned brands instead of pioneer & sony.
for head units/recievers, you have pioneer, JVC and also alpine.
the choice is yours.

Re: Speaker brand help..
First of all, go for components in the fronts and the rears can be avoided if you drive all the time and hardly anyone sits in the back.
Good components systems include
Ground Zero
Illusion
Rainbow
Infinity
JBL ( Higher models)
and many more.
For Head Units, you can consider Alpine, Pioneers , Kenwood. These are some of the good quality ones.
If you want to spend a good amount on the HU.
Get something like the Alpine 9887/ Pioneer P80
Both cost around 18-22k
Also, Can you help us with your budget and what type of music do you listen to so we can advice you better. :)

There was one set of kicker also that was good.
Good in general and not for someone looking for the very-detailed sound.

Re: Speaker brand help..
yes abhinav, those are 6x9s.
i dont know what made me buy a sony... lack of knowledge i guess! but better sense prevailed. i have started saving and there is a lot of 'to-dos' in my setup.
initially i had a sony sub & a 2 ch amp, i chucked the useless sub & bought the JBL and replaced the 2 ch amp with a 4 ch one.
next i will change the HU which will happen next month most probably. i am planning for pio 6050 because it meets all my requirements. i have planned not to spend too much on fancy 2 din HUs and instead, invest those saved money on speakers.
after that, the front speakers will go and will be replaced by again JBL or infinity.
then the rear speakers will go & again will be replaced by either JBL or ground zero.
finally, if i am still left with money, i will buy an additional 2 ch amp to the existing one to support the basstube so that the 4 ch amp can power all the 4 speakers. (right now my 4 ch amp powers the basstube & rear co-axials).
and yes, damping... but that comes last on my list.
admist all these, i have to save some money for alloys too! phew!
if anybody is willing to donate some, kindly help!

Re: Speaker brand help..
Umm. A Suggestion
Do not go for the additional 2 channel amp if you do not want high bass.
For the fronts, i would advice you components.
Infinity are better than JBL. Ground Zeros are better in the fronts than the rears ( Atleast that's what i felt)
For the rear, go for 6x9 from JBL ( or in short JBL GTO 938) Cost around 3000.
The Pioneer 6050 is a very good HU considering it has loads of features.
Do go to a good installer and get proper wiring :)

actually, i wish to go for the additional amp since i wont mind high bass!!!
yes, the front will have compos for sure, either JBL or infinity as you recommended.
but all this will happen slowly, step by step.

Re: Speaker brand help..
Infinity is nice.
So is illusion / ground zero
There are some in the Alpine / Rainbow range which are good.
But if you are looking for budget compos, then Infinity should be good (not sure about the price). Else the JBL 608c is good as it will complement the JBL rears (938 if you plan those)
If you plan high bass, i would suggest a good mono and according to the specs of the sub.
What is the model number of your bass tube?

so sorry abhinav, i am considering illusions for the front, not infinity. have heard good reviews about their compos.
the model number of my bass tube is CS-1205T. why i am not considering a mono amp is because someone suggested me a mono will be like a overkill for the basstube.
now dont suggest to replace the basstube with a sub pls. reasons are:
1) i like the basstube more than the sub, visually!!!
2) i agree that subs gives a better tighter punch, but i dont mind the bass from the tube!!!
3) the basstube sits in between the jump seats of my scorpio perfectly. even average sized subs would require me to fold one of my jump seats & make it reduntant.

Re: Speaker brand help..
In that case, i'd suggest you to get the JBL 1004.
Power the fronts ( Illusions ) and the JBL bass tube with that.
The Illusions will get 100w while the sub will get 300w.
That is at 14.4 v.
Ideally you wont get 14.4 v and hence you would get atleast 250w rms for the bass tube while it requires 275 to play at full potential.
Wont be an over kill
You can power the rears through a 2 channel amp :)
