Skoda is planning to launch a revamped Octavia to reinforce its presence in the D segment in India. It is contemplating its options to launch an upgraded version of Skoda Octavia in next few years for the Indian customers. The new upgraded model will be India-specific and will be built on a new platform at its Chakan facility near Pune. There are no details available about the pricing or technical details of the new upgraded model being considered by the company.
Currently, the Indian model of Skoda Octavia is a five door lift back model with estate body styles. It shares its platform and auto components with other models from the Volkswagen group like VW Jetta and VW Golf. Skoda sold nearly 8000 Octavia and Laura models in India last year. It falls second to Honda Civic in this segment.
