Re: Pictures of Rotting Vintage Cars
i'm hummer freak- great pictures to look at. The Vauxhall 14 was a comparatively larger car of the 1940's and was sold with the Vauxhall 12 both made by GM, UK. Very few survive. Even the one you have posted has many parts missing -the meters, dash switches, lights and even mechanicals like the engine, gearbox etc are missing. It will be a Herculean task to source these.
The second is a Standard Herald Mark II of the mid- 1960's. It came after the original Herald was phased out. This one has two doors but the next model was a four door. Its also messed up. can't see the dash, the steering is a replacement (aftermarket) and I am sure it does not have any mechanicals within as the belly landing sans wheels and axles is evident.
The last one as Amit has rightly put is the Sipani Dolphin, a car with two doors, fibre body and floor shift gears. It is based on the UK model Reliant Kitten a small car and was made by Sipani Automobiles, Bangalore during the mid 1970's.It did'nt sell well and was plagued by reliability problems and very, very poor service (Fiat Uno/ Palio service that we talk of as worse was much better than Sipani). So there are very few Dolphins surviving.

looks great in the original pic, why dont people give some respect to vintages and maintain them, if not the engine atleast their looks

Forget vintages buddy, people dont even maintain their new cars. We have a year old Honda City ZX VTEC in a really bad shape. Full of dents n finish almost gone.Sorry i am :offtopic:

Nice pictures - thats a Chevrolet,(are you sure its a Fleetline?) I 'll check up and post soon. This one has been the first car that Lata Mangeshkar owned after her success in the early 1950's with her songs in the film Mahal.Chevrolet has put this on record in a brochure. This car had a six cylinder petrol engine and was an import from the USA with right hand drive configuration. Was a rich man's car those days being bigger than the average British sedans. Many have been junked or broken down after the oil price hike in the early 1970's as these were gas guzzlers. So few examples survive in the original form.anjan wrote:i'm hummer freak-

Re: Pictures of Rotting Vintage Cars
True i'm hummer freak -there were two models Fleetline and Styleline based on this shape. The one you've posted is a Fleetline. Its convertible version I believe was the Styleline.
The 1951 Chevrolet Fleetline Deluxe sedan
was stylish but felt outdated to buyers.
The 1951 Chevrolet Styleline DeLuxe drop-top
epitomized the era's long-deck look.

Re: Pictures of Rotting Vintage Cars
Everyday more and more vintage car's rotting pictures are posted here. It is sad to see all these pics. They would look great, if some one restores them. I bet they are sure beauties once restored.

Re: Pictures of Rotting Vintage Cars
the reason of not restoring it now is that passion for old vintages is lesser in this generation and also it takes out quite expensive job to retain its original parts which majorly seems to be imported from its manufacturer and also not easy to maintain.

Re: Pictures of Rotting Vintage Cars
yes they are, all the vintages are beauties of the past, its only bbecause of their irresponsible owners these are in such a bad condition

Re: Pictures of Rotting Vintage Cars
I agree with vijay. The owners alone can't be blamed. Availability of parts in a locality, cost, etc...are also to be considered.
