Around 4 decades ago when Bajaj Auto launched its scooter in India, the production of the vehicle was not in line with its extremely high demand. The demand-supply mismatch was so high that potential buyers might have to wait upto 10-12 years after booking for the delivery. So, buyers were ready to pay a premium of around Rs.20,000 for instant delivery, in spite of the fact that the price of the scooter was just Rs.3,000.
Now Nano, the world's cheapest car, is set to hit the road in due course, it seems like Bajaj's scooter, Tata Nano will be able to fetch premium on reselling of fresh car. Many buyers would just buy the car to again sell it off at a higher price. Lets wait and watch how the market accepts the Nano.
